"Darren, I've got a charity book signing at the children's hospital tonight! I'll be home by 8!"

Darren looks at his watch. 12:34. Perfect.

"OK, baby, have fun!"

"Do you think you can come down at all?"

"I don't know yet baby, but I'll try."

"OK, see you later!" Chris gives him a quick peck on the cheek and rushes out the door. With Chris gone for about 7 hours, it'll be just enough time for Darren to set everything up for his proposal. He waits until Chris' car is out of sight before hopping into his own and driving off. He pulled out a list with a few things he needed to get done before 8 PM tonight

PERFECT PROPOSAL PLAN

1) Get flowers (Probably roses)

2) Write up some long ass speech for before I pop the question

3) FIND NICE CLOTHES!!!!!!

4) Music to play in the background

5) Find anything else that you can come up with that I can't think of at the time I wrote this

"This list better not fail me now..." He whispers to himself as he pulls into the flower shop parking lot. He grabs 20 large, red roses and gets back into his car. He then drives to Goodwill and picks out the cheapest yet fanciest clothes he can find. He also buys a $25 ITunes card so he can buy the most romantic music he can find. He then drives back home (after running a few other errands), and pulls into the garage at 6 PM. Two hours until Chris comes home. He plucks off each and every rose petal and sets them in a nice line leading to the living room. He assembles a nice playlist and plays it softly through a speaker sitting on the kitchen counter a few feet away. He also takes out a box of battery-powered candles and sets them a few feet away from one another along the line of roses. He then dims the lights and runs upstairs to get ready. It takes him until 7:45 PM until he finally feels ready enough, even though his heart has been ready since the day they got together. He takes the ring out of its hiding place and puts it into his pocket. His phone gives a little ding

Chris: On the way, a little disappointed you didn't make it :(

Alright, Darren. In 10 minutes you're life could change forever. Just stay cool. He walks back down to the living room and stands and waits for Chris. After what feels like an eternity, he can finally hear Chris pull into the driveway. The front door unlocks, and all he can hear is Chris gasp.
