Moon's POV
Moon thanked the healers and exited to cave.
Tsunami ran past her, ignoring her. Confused by the lack of recognition she followed the SeaWing.
The deep blue tail vanished around the corner and shouts were heard. Moon picked up her pace. Her muscles screamed at her, but she ignored it.
As she rounded the corner, she saw an unconscious Qibli, and Tsunami pinning down Whirlwind. A dagger skidded toward her, spinning on the ground.
"GET OFF!" Whirlwind yelled, pushing at Tsunami. She ignored him and put her talon on his throat.
"No," she growled. "You were going to murder Qibli, weren't you?"
"What I was or wasn't going to do is none of your business," he spat, finally managing to twist himself free.
Moon ran over to Qibli, the dagger was still well out of Whirlwind's reach, but just within Moon's though she didn't dare to touch it.
"You have a lot of explaining to do!" Tsunami yelled.
Whirlwind ruffled his wings, putting on his usual aloof atmosphere.
"About what?" He snickered.
Tsunami looked angrier than ever.
Pine had somehow appeared next to Qibli and was checking him over. She sighed in relief.
"Just unconscious. Nothing too serious, and he should wake up in a few hours," she nodded, seeming satisfied with her own answer and looked toward Moon. "Do you know where his sleeping cave is?"
Moon nodded, flicking her tail in the direction of his cave.
Pine smiled a little and lifted the SandWing up, almost effortlessly. Then, with a final glance back at the blur of blue and red, whisked Qibli out of sight.
Well I'm glad he's not dead. She thought, wandering away from all the shouting. She was sure that if she spent another second in that mess, she would surely lose her hearing.
Suddenly, she collided with something. Jerking back, she saw Umber.
He was standing up and rubbing his head where he'd collided with her.
"Sorry," Moon said, reaching out and helping the small MudWing up.
He smiled at her. "Oh, it's ok, I should've been watching where I was going anyways. It's not your fault," Umber looked around, as if searching for someone.
'I wonder where Qibli is, I hope he's ok,' Umber's anxious thoughts rushed toward Moon, she absorbed them and looked around as well. Knowing that Qibli would be nowhere in sight.
"If you're looking for Qibli," Moon started, and Umber shot her a confused look.
"How did you know?" He asked, looking around.
She sighed. "I can read minds, I though you already knew," she motioned toward the gleaming teardrop scales. "If a NightWing has these, that means that they can read minds," Moon explained.
Didn't I tell him this already? I think I did, She shrugged, deciding that even if she did, Umber must've forgotten, seeing the clueless look on his face.
"Oh," he said, looking around again.
"Qibli's in his cave by the way," Moon said, continuing to walk.
Umber thanked her and swiftly made his way toward Qibli's cave.
I wonder why I haven't seen Winter at all lately, usually he would be here, talking to me... Moon sighed, then her eyes widened.
If Whirlwind had tried to kill Qibli, maybe.... no... Would he really...?
She spun around and ran toward the main entrance, knowing that at least one of the Dragonets of Destiny would be there, watching for new students or just talking with each other.
Starflight, Fatespeaker and Clay where here, chatting.
"Hey," Moon said, stopping in front of them, attempting to catch her breath as the other dragons stared at her in confusion.
"Are you ok Moon?" Fatespeaker asked, putting a talon on her shoulder.
Too tired to answer, Moon held up a talon, signaling that she needed a little more time to catch her breath.
She nodded understandingly and pulled away, waiting.
A few minutes later, she looked up, fear shining in her eyes.
"What's going on?" Clay asked, his brown wings lifting up, alert. "Did someone hurt you?"
Moon shook her head. "Do you know what Whirlwind did?" she struggled to keep her voice steady, using all of her willpower to control her voice, not even focusing on her expressions, but knowing that she was only controlling her tone, she knew that she was giving away more than she was hiding.
They all shook their heads.
"How do you not know?" she gasped, looking around.
"Wha-" Starflight started but Moon cut him off.
"He tried to kill Qibli, and he somehow snuck a dagger into the school! And he might've killed Winter! I can't find him anywhere!"
The barricade broke, gleaming tears started dripping out of Moon's eyes, she furiously wiped them away.
Clay placed a wing on her back, trying to sooth her. "It's ok, maybe Winter just went on a break, I don't doubt that I wouldn't remember," Clay chuckled a little.
"Sorry to break the moment," Starflight said, Fatespeaker nodding, as if to say, 'Say it before they start talking again'.
"What is it?" Moon sniffed, wiping a final tear away.
"Who is Whirlwind?" The two NightWings said in unison.
"How do you not remember him?" Moon asked, uneasiness started creeping up her spine, chilling her down to the bone.
"We've just never heard of him," they said, again, in unison.
Something's not right, something's definitely not right.
