He looked at me; smiling charmingly as if he was not late for our dinner.
"Are you leaving me?" He teased with a grin stretched across his face.
"Ready to."
I quickly looked away to avoid that charm that he tried to compel me with.
"Ran into a little trouble." He went on about being held up with no real reason behind it. Excuses I was not ready to hear standing in the mist of winter.
"A simple sorry would do." I looked down at my shoes.
I heard him exhale, which seemed to be a sigh of relief.
"I'm sorry."
Of course I wanted to leave him standing in the middle of the sidewalk with that Cheshire grin and his excuses.
However, I paid money for this evening. Plus, he looked extremely handsome in his dark colored clothing and clean shoes.
"So should we get back in there?"
"Of course."

I was sitting across the man I had purchased. The man I have struggled to get the attention of yet why I was stuck on silent mode?
I waited some time to have his undivided attention however I had idea how to use it.
I mean what do I say?
Where do I start?
What sort of questions do I ask?
"School." I choked.
"Huh?" He glanced up from his menu.
"I mean...how is school going?"
Stupid ass question.
"Pretty good I guess. Not easy but going well." He noted.
I felt like someone's aunt who would ask their niece or nephew about school, even though they truly don't care.
"And basketball?"
"Uh pretty good. Sometimes it can get a little hectic with studies as well. The last thing any of us want to do is mess up our grades. Or scholarship depends on our work and our skills." Monte noted.
I could not stare too long. The desire to kiss him was eating me up.
"I can do it."
"Do what?" He asked.
"I mean as far as helping with your studies." I clarified. "If you ever find yourself needing help, Im open to assisting you."
"Like a tutor?" His smile appeared.
"Yeah."
He nodded.
"Thanks."
The waiter approached us with a courteous greeting and a smile before he took our orders. Once finished, he collected our menus and stepped away from our table, leaving Monte and I alone once again.
"So, tell me something." Monte spoke.
"Um like?" I grew nervous.
"Anything."
It felt like an interview. You know, one of those employment interviews where the hiring manager requests that you tell them about yourself. It's that moment that leaves you stuck as if you forgot all about yourself.
Who am I?
What the hell do I like to do?
Damn, what is my favorite food again?
