Sorry this took so long for me to post...
Recap:
"He placed a kiss on my forehead and responded, "like I said before, you don't need to thank me. I just want you to feel safe, so I'm always gonna be here when you need me now okay?""

A few days had gone by since reporting my father.

I'm still staying at Zach's house and him and his mom and sister do their best to make me feel as comfortable and as safe as I can.

   It's nice.

To be able to come home and not be frightened of even just walking through the front door is something completely new to me that I haven't felt in a while.

Zach has been so incredibly supportive and we've become so close over the past week.

His mom is wonderful. She's like a mother figure to me. She's always making sure I'm doing okay and asks if I need anything. She even took me to the mall for a 'girls day'.

I was sat on their surprising comfortable leather couch, cuddled up in a blue and yellow blanket as I watched season two of Orange is The New Black.

I pulled myself off the couch when I heard the doorbell ring. Pausing the show, I walked over to the front door and opened it, revealing two police officers.

"Are you, Y/F/N Y/L/N?" One of the officers asked politely.

I nodded just as Zach came down the stairs and walked up behind me.

"Can we help you?" Zach spoke up.

The one police officer gave Zach a bit of a glare before turning his attention back to me.

"I'm officer Carlin and this," he pointed to the man next to him. "Is officer Marelly."

Then officer Marelly spoke up, "we have in our system and paperwork that you filed a report against your father?"

"Yeah, on Tuesday. Why?" I questioned.

"It seems that your mother filed one a few years back as well," officer Carlin added.

"Huh?" I choked out. This is news to me. Why would my mother file a domestic violence report against my father years ago?

I stood there in shock, trying to compile any memories I had of my mother and father being together, but I didn't remember anything with abuse.

They were always so happy. They rarely ever argued and when they did it ended minutes later.

   But then something clicked.

One night about two years ago, I had woken up at around twelve in the morning. My head was hurting so I had opened my dresser drawer to get an Advil.

I wasn't fully awake but I remember hearing something crashing from the living room.

I cracked my door open, seeing the living room light on downstairs.

I figured my parents were still up watching some stupid soap opera like usual.

I heard another crash, and what sounded like an small yelp, but like I said, I wasn't fully awake so I continued to assume it was just whatever show was on tv.

   But maybe I was wrong.

"If she filed one how come no one ever did an investigation?" I interrogated.
