Recap:
"Maybe in five years our paths will cross again and I will tell you how desperately in love I was with you and we can laugh about how we broke each other's hearts," he said quietly with this tone of certainty that it would actually happen.

"Seth baby, are you ready for baseball practice?" I asked walking up the stairs to my six year old sons room.

Seth ran out of his room in his baseball uniform with a wide grin plastered on his face, "yep! Can we go for ice cream after?!"

I chuckled at his excitement and nodded my head, "I don't see why not," I replied making his smile grow even wider. "Aw I can't believe it! My baby is growing up and is going to be on his first baseball team!" I gushed at him ruffling his hair in the process.

"Mom don't ruin my hair!" Seth grumbled.

I laughed once more, and said a small sorry before telling him we needed to be on our way.

Seth and I got into my car and drove to the baseball field.

Once we got there, Seth immediately jumped out of the car and sprinted over to him teammates.

I smiled, probably feeling even more excited than he was. My little boy was growing up so fast and I loved it but hated it at the same time.

I only wish his dad could've been enough of a man to stick around to actually see it.

I walked over to the field, not to stay and watch the practice but to just meet the coach so I at least knew who he was.

The closer I approached Seth's coach, the more familiar looking he became. And suddenly, I finally knew who he was.

   Montgomery de la Cruz.

I haven't seen him in seven years. The last time was when I texted him and we met at Monets.

Well this will be interesting, I thought to myself.

Monty seemed to have recognized me too because as soon as he saw me his eyes widened and he blurted out, "Y/N?"

"Nice to see you, Montgomery," I stated politely.

   "I haven't seen you in—"

"Seven years," I finished his sentence.

"How have you been?" He asked.

   "Pretty good I guess. You?"

"Not to bad, still trying to find a better job but I don't mind coaching," he stated. "Are you seeing anyone right now?" He questioned but then his eyes widened after he realized how out of place that question sounded. "Sorry that's was kinda personal you—you don't have to answer that. I—I shouldn't of even asked." He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

I chuckled, "it's okay," I started. "But to answer your question, I did have a boyfriend...now all I have is his kid..." I trailed off.

   "You have a kid?"

I nodded, "number nineteen. His names Seth, he's six," I said gesturing to Seth who was playing with the other kids. "Why else would I just randomly be at a baseball field?"

Monty's face flushed with embarrassment, "yeah that makes sense. So, uh, how long has it just been just the two of you?"
