As we pulled up to the party my stomach began tying up in knots. I can't believe I'm actually here. I guess junior year should be more fun and exciting, but I am definitely out of my comfort zone.
"Babe, everything will be just fine," Naomi encouraged. I sipped on my water bottle and took a deep breath.
"Okay, let's go," I said, ignoring my fear the best I could. This is not something I usually do and I think I might throw up.
Naomi, Micah and I got out of the car and walked up the steps of the huge suburban home. Cole's brand new black jeep was in the driveway. I loved the ASU license plate and stickers. It was my dream school, and from as far as I can tell, Cole plans on going there too.
As soon as we walked into the house, I could hear the blaring sound of Migos, and the smell of rain.
No, not real rain. Cole rain. It was somehow calming yet completely nerve wracking. His whole house smelled just like him and it was intoxicatingly good.
We walked into the kitchen and immediately Naomi and Micah began saying hello to everyone. It was just a bunch of populars drinking beers and White Claw's, posting pictures and videos to Instagram of how drunk they are.
I stood awkwardly as Naomi came back to me, "Want a drink?" She asked. Micah was talking to some guys across the kitchen. I nodded.
Naomi reached into the cooler and pulled out two mango White Claw's.
"Hey! You guys made it!" Jordan came over and greeted us, giving side hugs.
Jordan is Cole's best friend and also a football player. He was your typical blonde haired blue eyed jock, but he was actually sweet. Jordan was never rude to anyone. Although he may not look like it, he was a breath of fresh air for a jock.
Don't get me wrong, Cole was nice too, but it was evident to me that sometimes he felt like he needed to put up a façade in front of his other friends. Jordan was definitely more comfortable with himself and I couldn't understand why Cole wouldn't be.
"We wouldn't miss the after party!" Naomi said, then began gulping down her drink.
"Duh, it wouldn't be an after-party without the party herself," Jordan smiled at her. It was also very obvious that Naomi is in love with Jordan. Although she would never admit it.
Naomi likes to seem tough so she hardly ever talks feelings with me, but I know she likes him. She acts like she thinks he's cute as if shes's being sarcastic and just joking. Yeah, Naomi is the funniest girl I know, but I think she might hide behind humor to protect herself.
But, who wouldn't like Jordan? He is the All American Boy with TikTok boy hair. Perfect for her.
"It's good to see you here too, Maya," he sipped his beer and winked. Was that him flirting? Or am I just not used to people being friendly?
"Yeah, thanks," I said, now feeling very uncomfortable. "Let's go Naomi."
Naomi laughed, "Oh fine." She waved to Jordan and we walked over to the living room. Cole was in the corner talking to some of his friends and there were the girls. Not the whole squad, but Holly, Vanessa and Jenna. They were gathered around the couch with some of the football guys. "Hey ladies!" Naomi greeted all of them.
"What's up girl?" Vanessa slurred, already drunk.
"You made it, bitches!" Holly ran up to her and hugged her, spilling a bit of alcohol from her red solo cup on Naomi's shoulder.
They both squealed and Holly backed away, cracking up.
"Sorry bitch!" She said in between breaths.
