"Alright ladies! Let's run it one last time!" I announced, then pressed play on the boom box.

The remixed cheer music began playing as we ran through the choreography for the homecoming football game tonight. Halftime is our chance to show off our routine in the middle of the football field, while hundreds of students, parents, and faculty watch.

It's still early in the school year, but I'm feeling a little bit better about my Captain abilities. Once we finished the routine, I stopped the music and looked at Coach, who was sitting on the bench watching, with a huge smile.

"That was fantastic, ladies!" She exclaimed. Coach stood up and came over to put her arm around me. "I made the right decision making you captain." She said.

I heard murmurs coming from Holly's area. I looked up and she and Vanessa were rolling their eyes. I ignored it and looked at Naomi and Micah who were smiling ear to ear.

"Girl, we are going to kill it tonight," Naomi exclaimed, pulling her shirt over her head. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

I bent over to put my sandals on and stood up feeling nauseous. "There's no way I'm going to be able to focus on school today."

"Same here. I can't wait!"

Naomi and I put our backpacks on and walked out of the locker room, seeing Micah waiting for us. "Thanks for the invite to Main Event!" He said sarcastically.

I shook my head and sighed, "I'm so sorry Micah. To be honest, I didn't even invite Naomi anyways."

"Rude," she snapped, brushing her blonde hair off her shoulder.

"It's true!" I laughed then looked at Micah, "Cole invited Jordan and Naomi and didn't tell me."

"Oh, I guess I can forgive you. I was with Pedro anyways." He said, fluttering his long false eyelashes.

"Really?" Naomi said, now sounding interested.

"How was that?" I asked, as we continued walking through the quart yard. "Will you be wearing matching ties to Homecoming?"

Micah laughed, "Actually yes we are coordinating in peach." He said matter-of-factly. "And it was fun! He still hasn't asked me to be his boyfriend, but I think it's coming."

It was so weird to me because I never knew Pedro even liked guys and finding out he and Micah are going to Homecoming was very surprising to me. But I'm excited for Micah regardless because Pedro is super sweet and funny. He's definitely the class clown.

"Well I'm happy you guys are getting so close!" Naomi said, seeing Jordan in front of us. "Jordan!" She called to him, causing him to turn around and smile.

"Maya! Naomi!" He exclaimed then looked at Micah. "What's up Micah?" We walked up to him and he did a "bro" handshake with  Micah, causing Micah to get all flustered. He isn't really a "man's man" so to speak.

I also couldn't help but notice Jordan said my name first. But that didn't mean anything. Right?

"You ready for tonight?" Naomi asked Jordan, giving him a side hug and holding onto him tight.

"I'm so stoked! Are you? How is the cheer dance coming along?" He asked, then looking at me.

"It's pretty much perfect," I said, holding onto my backpack straps.

"We got this. Are you going to be able to watch us or will you be warming up during halftime?" Naomi asked.

Usually the football players are off the field during halftime but hopefully Cole and Jordan will be able to watch.
