Monday Matchmaking

Lockers opening and slamming rang in my ears as we all got ready for class. Practice was rough because of my lack of sleep last night. Cole stayed over again and what can I say? Our lips are pretty much magnets. Plus, it was nice that Cole didn't pressure me to have sex.

Naomi must have noticed because she shook my shoulder as I began to doze off, sitting on the bench next to my locker. "Whoa, I'm awake," I stammered.

Naomi laughed, "What the hell is up with you? Why are you so tired?"

I smiled, "Cole stayed with me last night."

"Ahh, all that boning is keeping you awake all night, huh?" Naomi asked, making a hip thrusting motion jokingly.

"Oh my God, bitch! What are you doing?" Holly came over, laughing with Naomi.

"Oh just imitating my girl, Maya," Naomi said, winking at me.

"Gross," Holly rolled her eyes then walked away.

I rolled my eyes and back-handed Naomi's arm. "Why did you do that?!" I exclaimed.

"It's not a big deal," Naomi laughed.

I felt my phone vibrate from my backpack and pulled it out, seeing Cole's text.

Jordan is on board, lookout after cheer!

I rubbed my tired eyes and read it over again. Jordan was on board! It was a relief because I was worried he had feelings for me, but maybe it was all in my head. Maybe now Naomi will be happy about Homecoming.

I looked up at Nay and she always looked beautiful, but I wanted to make sure she looked perfect before we walked out to go to class. The way Cole worded his text, it seems that Jordan is going to ask her on the way out.

That's when the bell rang to go to class. "So, you ready to go?" I asked her, standing up, throwing my backpack over my shoulder.

"Yeah," Naomi said, putting her tote bag on her shoulder as well. I pulled my lip gloss out of my pocket and put some on, "Oh, can I borrow that?" She asked, thankfully. That girl will never ignore some lip gloss.

I handed it to her and she put it on then handed it back. We walked out of the locker room, all dressed and ready for school. I felt nervous because Naomi doesn't know what's coming, but still excited. Micah popped out of the boys locker room and joined us.

"So, you excited for Homecoming?" I asked them.

"I'm so stoked!" Micah chimed in first.

"The game, yes, but the dance, not so much." Naomi sighed.

I looked around the quart yard and I didn't see Jordan anywhere, just random groups of people hanging out with their friends. I guess Cole might have been wrong. The three of us got to the place we usually split up to get to class and I decided I better just go so I'm not late.

"Well, I guess I'll see you guys at lunch then," I said, feeling sad that he isn't around.

"Bye, love you!" Naomi called to me and she walked the opposite direction with Micah.

"Bye babe, love ya!" Micah blew kisses.

"Love you guys too!" I called back to her and walked into the Social Studies building for Econ. Before the door could close though, I heard a squeal behind me. I turned around and saw in the middle of the quart yard, Jordan was talking to Naomi, and suddenly she leaped into him, hugging him tight. Micah was walking away, but watching with a huge grin.

Looks like he just asked her to go with him! I smiled like a little girl, then turned to go into the building again.

Once I got to Ms. Johnston's class, I saw Cole was already in his seat. He looked up at me and smiled, making my heart flutter. I couldn't help but yawn as I sat in my seat, and set my backpack down.

"Hey," Cole greeted happily. "You tired too?" He asked, looking at me up and down.

"Very!" I laughed then kissed his lips real quick before Ms. Johnston could notice.

The bell rang, so she went to the front of the class to begin the PowerPoint she had set up. I tried to focus, because right now I'm not doing so well in this class. It was hard to not get distracted by Cole. Plus, we were supposed to do homework last night and that didn't end up happening because we got too busy making out.

As Ms. Johnston began talking, Cole ripped a piece of notebook paper out and wrote something on it, then passed it to me.

Jordan asked Naomi. He just texted me and said she said yes

I wrote back to him quickly, so I wouldn't get in trouble.

I saw that! I'm excited for them. Thanks for hooking it up!

When Cole read it he looked at me and winked. Somehow he was always so smooth, even though he didn't think he was.

Lunch rolled around pretty quick and again, Cole expected me to sit with him at his huge table. Now that we are official, I guess it just comes with the territory, but it doesn't make it any less terrifying.

Once I sat down, I tried to remember that Cole didn't see me as a random chick who suddenly became cheer captain; he thought of me as the girl who was out of his league. I needed to remind myself over and over if I wanted to feel more comfortable at lunch. Luckily Naomi and Micah are also here, but today Naomi sat on the other side of the table across from me next to Jordan, and Micah is next to me but he's talking to Pedro.

I looked over at Naomi and Jordan and they were talking but Jordan kept looking at me. I tried my best not to look in their direction so that I wouldn't have to worry about it.

"So, you having a good day?" Cole asked, pulling me from my thoughts.

I nodded, "Yes I am. How's your day going?" I asked. I hated small talk, but at least he's talking to me. Sometimes he tends to start talking to his friends and he kind of leaves me out. Not necessarily on purpose because he's friends with literally everyone at this table, but it is still weird for me.

"Yeah, I've been thinking about our date," he said, smiling. "It'll be tomorrow night at 7."

"I can't wait!" I exclaimed, trying to imagine where he would take me. It doesn't even need to be extravagant, just some place we can spend time together and continue getting to know each other. Although, I do feel like Cole and I have gotten to know each other pretty quickly. That's probably because when we talk, we talk about real things.

Cole and I really get each other.

"Cole."

I looked over and saw Stacy coming up to him with her phone in her hand. She got close to him and she took a selfie with him on what looked like Snapchat. She started laughing and she looked at the picture, completely ignoring me.

Lately I haven't noticed Stacy around him. At least not since we made it official, but it's not out of the ordinary because she does sit at this table at lunch.

"That's a good picture! I'll send it to you!" She said to him, smiling like a little girl. I watched them closely and I won't lie, I'm feeling jealous and angry. She walked away and Cole didn't say anything to me, so I tried to just let it go.
