It had been a week since I'd kicked Eric out. I'd received an angry email from him threatening to bring in his team of lawyers regarding the house, to which I'd replied with a hearty 'Good luck' since I'd found our copy of his Mother's Will; co-signed by himself. Seeing his signature on that document alongside his Mother's, Andy's and my own, left me feeling like a huge weight had been lifted.

He didn't have a leg to stand on anymore, but it did make me wonder why he all of a sudden wanted to fight it. Maybe Michelle had blown all of his money? Ha, not my problem.

The week had flown by. Nikki had pretty much been living at Ryan's since their spontaneous weekend getaway, only stopping in to grab clothes and drop off washing to be done. I guess it was a glimpse into the future, when Quinn goes off to Uni and only comes home on weekends to see all her friends and for me to wash her clothes before heading off again.

Noah had stayed over a few nights too. He'd told me it was because he couldn't sleep whenever Lucas had his new girlfriend over, "She's a screamer," was the excuse I was given, but I think he was worried about Quinn and I without Nikki here. Whatever the excuse, I liked that he wanted to be here.

Dean had been over for dinner twice during the week as well and had been quite vocal about his dislike of Ryan, saying that Nikki had turned into a swooning teenager over his muscles. I'm not sure why it even mattered to him since he'd been hanging out with Dani.

They'd been out for drinks and she'd come in to see me at work the next day to chat about it. We'd ended up going to the coffee shop next door to my office and having a great catch up for an hour or so before I had to get back to work. She really liked him, and I was happy he was seeing someone. Even if I still had hopes he and Nikki would end up together, but that was none of my business.

Quinn was playing with her trains on the floor, happily immersed in her imaginary world while music played through the speaker and I bopped along to it while folding washing at the dining table. It was a simple happy moment and I was grateful for the ease of it. The music was interrupted by the whistle of my phone signalling a new text. I reached over the table to open the new message from Nikki.

Hey, are you home today? I wanna come talk to you about something x

I re-read the message. Oh god, what if she's pregnant? Calm down, deep breath. She just wants to talk. I wrote out a reply letting her know I was going to be home all weekend and happy to talk whenever, put my phone back down and briefly went back to the music and folding.

"Yoo-hoo? Where's my Quinny Bear?" I heard Nikki's voice boom from the front of the house.

"Well that's the quickest reply ever." I said with a laugh, Nikki smiled slightly at my comment and I wondered again if she was going to tell me she was pregnant. "So what did you want to talk about? Obviously it's important if you're already h..."
