I like the white cotton dress. Its airy, and beautiful. When Amy came in and handed me the dress it was a bit of a suprise, and when she said I was being introduced to the pack, I was shocked.
Kreed and I had not marked each other. We haven't even gotten to know each other that well. I suppose introducing me to the pack is necessary. Yesterday when we ate in the kitchen, the chef of the pack house kept staring at me. Makes sense the pack would like to know who is living in their territory. So here I stand, staring in the mirror at my caramel hair and violet eyes. Violet Killingsworth, mated to the Alpha of the Rogue Pack. I like it.
The door clicks open revealing Amy, "Time to go."
She leads me down wood stairs and into a large room filled with about 300 wolves. She grabs my arm pulling me behind the stage, "wait for your name to be called."
Just like that, she was gone. I couldn't help but look at all the wolves staring up at my mate. They all had the same look in their eyes; respect. Not a single hint of fear. Alpha Wane was not a respected man, he was feared because of his erratic and impulsive behavior. When I was locked away, it never surprised me that nobody spoke up. I knew that no one would save me from him because they were all scared. No matter how much they praised and loved me, not a single one helped. I hold no anger towards them, only pity that they are stuck with a madman. Goddess only knows how much worse he has gotten since I've left.
"...my mate, Violet" that was my cue
My legs carried me up the three steps, across the stage, and into the arms of my mate. I could see curiosity shine in their eyes now.
"She is Luna of this pack, and will be treated with respect," he announced while intertwining our hands. I let a smile form onto my face, "You will all be pleased to hear that you have a rarity for a Luna."
I let my smile slip from my face as I knew what his next words were, "An Oracle! The goddess had gifted us a rare Luna who will fight and protect our pack!"
Cheers erupted around the room, hands were clapping, people were jumping in excitement, gasps of suprise were floating around, but all I wanted to do was crawl into a hole. It's the same look; Like I was a god, a gift to all werewolf kind. A possession.
The pack was allowed to come onto the stage, one at a time, to talk to me. Several hand shakes and praises later, I was running up the stairs to my room. I knew he was following behind me, but I didnt care. I pushed myself to go faster, soon I made it to my door. I walked into the room, then slammed the door with force. I was pacing around the room, shaking my arms out, trying to control the rollercoaster of emotions I am going through. I didn't need to turn to know he is now in the room standing behind me, but I do anyways,
"Why?!"
He knows what I mean, but asks anyways, "Why, what"
"You told them, I'm an Oracle. Why!" I yelled. "You're just using me for power, aren't you! You're just like Alpha Wane," I spit out the last part
He moved to grab my shoulders, but I smacked his hand away before he could latch on. He looked annoyed by my actions,
"You cant fight. You can't block. You can't protect yourself. The pack knowing about you is for your safety," he walked to the door. He turned to me before walking out, "I would never use you for power."
He slammed the door on his way out. I was too upset to even think about what he said. I moved to my usual window seat and let the birds song take my attention.
