"You know, you and I are the same," Kreed tells me as he cradles my teary face, while we lay in the guest room's bed. After the events of last night, Kreed dragged me to one of the spare rooms away from prying eyes. He held me as my tears continued to flow, as my guilt ate away at me. All I wanted was to give his family closure, something that would bring them all together, hoping that it would bond them together, but I failed. Kreed talked to me about his childhood to calm me about the situation that occurred last night. Now that it's morning, he continues on with his tale.
"Sure my parents loved me and never treated me rotten, but they did keep my existence a secret. My mother did not want anyone to know of me, even in the vision you showed us, she told my sister she only had three brothers, not four. My mother loved me, but she also hated me. She was the daughter of the Warzone Alpha, a pack also descended from lycans, but she could never turn into one fully, only I could." His hand moves to run over my arms soothingly as he tells me more of his mother. His eyes look so distant as he is sucked into his memories.
"I say we are the same because I never had that relationship with my parents, the one where they cherished you. Though our reasonings our different," he sighs as his hand then moves into my hair. "I know you feel as if you failed me, but you have not. My family is the one who failed us," his hands moves then to my cheek, caressing it with a feather like touch, "Thank you". He places a small kiss to my forehead.
It amazed me how much Kreed spoke last night and this morning as well. Usually, I am the chatterbox, but I do like this side of him. The comfort and care that he did not receive from his family, he gives to me. I stop his thumb from stoking my cheek, and raise my hand to return the favor. He blinked in surprise at the sudden movement and watches me carefully. He was not used to the simple, but comforting caress. I would give him all that he missed from when he was a child. My hand moves up his cheek, into his hair, running my hands through the silvery, soft curls. My hands reach towards the back of his neck, moving his face closer to mine, feeling his cool, minty breath against my flushed face. Looking into those silver eyes, I saw desire flush through them. Hesitantly, my lips met his, a soft caress turning into a bruising passion as his tongue slipped into my mouth. A small whimper escapes me as the kiss becomes intense. He releases his hold on my now purplish lips, his eyes holding so much intensity, "Thank you," he says again.
Breakfast with a group of powerful wolves had my wolf slightly on edge. Kreed kept his hand on top of my leg, providing the warmth and comfort I desperately needed after last night's fiasco. A throat clears, causing our attention to move to one of the black haired twins, "We didn't introduce ourselves last night, I am Alec and this is Rider," his twin sends a nod my way.
"It's nice to meet you all," I reply politely, waiting for the one question that is bound to come. I shoved the small pieces of waffle into my mouth as Kreed's hand began to rub up and down my thigh slowly, the tingles shoot up my body causing an embarrassing squeal to leave my throat. My eyes shot towards him, scrunching in confusion as to why he was making me feel these things at breakfast with his family. Perhaps he did not expect that reaction, a simple mistake. However, something told me he is more bold after our kiss this morning.
A chuckle reaches my ears as my face begins to heat up, "Brother, have you no manners," Charles tsked. "Surely, you do remember some of the etiquette we were taught," his smirk widens as the red on my face spreads. Kreed's small growl leads Charles to hold his arms up in fake surrender, trying to turn his smirk into a frown, but fails miserably.
"Charles..." Alec warns. His white haired brother sends him a mock kiss in reply. He then moves to clink a spoon against his glass cup, "Members of the Power family and the Great Oracle," he shoots me a wink, "I am sure after last nights events some of you have been left...confused. But, I assure you, you will all come to know the story of our sister." Charles turns his attention back to me, "Oracle of the Rouge Pack, tell me, what was it that occurred last night, I've never seen such a sight of pain and disappointment," he chuckles at the end.
I feel my mate tense beside me, I put my hand on his arm and throw him a look. The question is for me, I should answer. I clear my throat, "When trying to call fourth to the vision, nothing came. I pushed my mind and body to locate it, but nothing was found," I take a quick breathe, "I don't know why that happened. Maybe I wasn't supposed to show you and Kreed, or maybe the moon goddess didn't want the rest of you to see. She works in mysterious ways, ways that I have no understanding of," I finish.
Everyone around the table looks deep in thought, "You shall try again," Charles announces. "Try a different way, use more herbs, I do not care, but you will find a way. If not, you will remain the murderer of my sister" He slams his hands onto the table then leaves the room.
My body begins to shake as I take in what he said. Murders are throw into a cell to be tortured till death comes. My watery eyes meet Alec's, pleading for him to say different, but he does not. He and his father both rise from their seats and leave the room as well. The silence wraps around me as Rider and Kreed look to each other, "Brother, I will not let them do such an injustice," Rider says before he too walks out of the room.
My eyes close as the tears want to fall. The warm embrace latches onto me, whispering into my ear sweet nothings, but I don't listen. I rise from my seat, marching my way towards the large room we visited when we first arrived. For many years, many viewed me as the great Oracle, what a disappointment I would be to let these men try to tear me down, and claim me for a murder they know I did not commit. I feel his warmth behind me, following me into the room that contains his family.
My stance is strong as my head is held up high, standing in front of the Power family, the royals. "I will not go down for a murder I did not commit," I walk closer to the men, "What do you think would happen if the council knew of my existence," the room grew tense. I knew what I had just insinuated, and I was not scared one bit. They should be scared. "Oracles are the most protected in our world, pack's all over the country would join together to have your head on a platter for threatening me. I am the moon goddess' most precious creation, you would also spend death in misery. The moon goddess would not allow your soul to roam the stars, No! You would spend eternity in the pit of flames," I concluded.
I looked around the room at the shocked and horrified faces, they knew my words were true. Of course I would never bring harm onto Kreed's family, but they didn't know that. "I will try again, to show you what happened to Rachel, but if that does not work, I will tell you verbally all that occurred. Give me your word that once I do, none of you will ever bother us again," My voice coming out strong and with finality.
"No need, I will tell my family" Charles moved forward, "I know you didn't kill her." His voice sounded defeated. I felt a stab of regret at the way I came in. They all knew I didn't kill her, they are all grieving and upset over her death. Their threat was empty, but here I was, giving into the god-like superiority that I hated. What a bummer.
My heart ached as Charles began to tell the story of Rachel, no, Alexandra. She should be remembered as the strong woman she was. Kreed gripped my hand in his, trying not to hear the tale of their sister, but he couldn't. The way his eyes looked glazed over, I knew he was seeing it all over again. The many burns and fractures his mother gave her, the harsh and grueling training to become a warrior, the sorrow when she saw her half- brother's head was on a stick, and the final beating of her heart. I watched as their expressions went through a number of emotions, but they all ended with the same frown and tear that slipped past their eyes. Their mother had been the cause of this, the death of their sister. An unfortunate life she had, while they lived here in a nice and shiny mansion, she was broken beyond repair. Even the small amount of happiness with Alpha Rush made no difference, all the scars were there on her heart.
If she had lived, would she honestly be happy? I think not.
The energy in the room was too depressing, I couldn't take it. I tried to drag the energy from within me to let comfort surround the wounded men, but there was nothing. No humming, no aura, no energy, completely hollow. My breathe was caught in my throat as I tried again, it was simple thing I learned to do when I was 16, and yet it wasn't working. My breathing was coming out labored as the panic began to settle in, a hand grasp me in time before my legs could give out. Eyes were on me, confuse at what was happening. An abrupt pain hit me, a pain I have felt before. The pain I felt in the dream of a black abyss, like my soul was being ripped apart from my body, I couldn't comprehend the words that were being shouted at me, just the agonizing scream that left my throat. I was enveloped in blackness once again.
