"Was this why you were so pissed? Beause I can punch this idiot's nose in for you..."
I blushed as Casey pushed himself off the couch to stand in front of Rachel. His jeans hung low on his waist, exposing even more skin. He was surprisingly built. "Um, no, it's fine, really-" I tried to say before Casey immediately interrupted me.
"Oh it was just a little boyfriend-girlfriend tension that's all." And then he flashed that annoyingly adorable grin of his. Rachel raised her eyebrows at me and then pointed at him. "This is your boyfriend?"
"Wait, I-"
"Yes, problem with that?" That idiot kept cutting me off. Whatever lie he was creating was not going to end well for me. A blush crept up my cheeks but covered it up by rolling my eyes in disgust and pulled Rachel off to my room, slamming the door behind us. I watched Rachel fall back onto my bare bed in the corner of the room. She yawned and asked, "Boy, would I kill to have a man like that..." She had a distant look in her eyes as if she was imagining their future or something. Gross. I sighed and began picking things out of the boxes. "So, you have an apartment together, but separate rooms... Why?" She raised her eyebrows at me.
"Rachel, I barely even know you. I don't think it's your business to be asking so many questions about my personal life." She sat up and started to leave, but before she opened the door she turned and faced me. "I don't know what your problem is, but I was just trying to be friendly. Don't come knocking on my door next time you need a real friend."And that was how I had a third door slammed in my face that day. First friend I'd made here, and I already scared them off. This was gonna be great year..
I kept myself as busy as I could the rest of the night, trying to keep my mind of things. It didn't exactly work but it kept me from wandering off to my constant over-thinking. Casey stayed non-existent, as he did before, always choosing the perfect times to appear. After everything, I couldn't busy myself with unpacking any longer. I collapsed into the bed and wrapped myself in the chill of the sheets.
I broke down that night. Everything had happened so fast. Laying in bed, wiping tears from my face, the memories of my constant bad luck flooded my mind. Wherever I went, it never seemed to fail. My life was just completely crap-tastic. There was nothing that was going to change my situation, not right now at least. I was friendless and stuck with a boy who I was now apparently in a relationship with. Can it get any weirder?
