We were no where. The wind was cold against my bare neck and sent a chill throughout my entire body. "Casey, I'm serious. Where are we going?" He smirked back at me and grabbed my wrist.

The wind howled through the surrounding trees, creating an extra eerie feeling. I was starting to feel like I was in a horror movie. After being pulled for quite too long for my liking, we came to a clearing in the woods.

"Welcome to my, well, paradise..."

I was awestruck. The sky was deep blue and the stars shined brightly in the sky like holes poked in a piece of paper. It was a beach and the moon lit it so perfectly, it really did look like paradise. "It's beautiful." Casey's smile grew larger and he said, "Just wait 'till you see the best part."

He led me to this perfect spot in the sand. It was higher above the water and you could see everything. Waves lapped up onto the sand and you could see the half moon and stars reflected upon the dark water.

All my anger and fears of the night seemed to wash away. "It's great isn't it? Casey asked.

"It's perfect." There was this sense of isolation this area gave me. I felt hidden and alone. And I liked it.

"How did you find it?" I asked him eventually.

"My dad. We would come here all the time whenever I was sad or angry at someone. It always made feel better, just to go on an adventure at night and just be alone with the stars. I mean, you look up and get lost. I haven't been here in years though, surprised I even found it again."

"Why, what happened?"

"He moved away, after the divorce... It still reminds me of him, probably the reason I never came back. Until now." He sighed and adjusted the navy beanie he wore. "Oh god. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be intrusive or anything," I said. He just uttered out his usual chuckle. "Lay down, the views much better."

As I situated my body on the frosty grass, my hair blew all over my face with the wind. Just at the moment I was practically clawing my face to remove it, Casey bursts into laughter. "Stop laughing!" I said with a mouth full of curly (and frizzy) red hair. He sat up laughing and brushed a piece off my forehead, his thumb lingering on my cheek. I immediately blushed and jerked up, scooting another foot away from him. He seemed just as embarrassed as I did. "Uh, sorry, I was just trying to help," he stuttered out nervously. "It's fine, uh, curly hair problems..." We laughed nervously.

We sat without speaking for a long time, the stars floating above us. It was okay though. Maybe the silence speaks the loudest, that's what it seems like anyway. Sometimes words just aren't enough.

I was freezing cold. After the adrenaline rush of getting to the beach wore off, I sat shivering in my small amount of clothes. Casey sat in the same spot a few feet away, still looking at the stars. I could see the sadness in his eyes. He finally broke the stare and looked to see me with my teeth chattering, trying to produce as much warmth as I could. He pulled off his beanie and stuck it over my head. "Th-an-ks..." He laughed and said,"we should probably head back before you freeze to death." I nodded. "Good plan."

By the time we made it back to his car, I was sure my fingers were going to fall off. It wasn't exactly warm at two in the morning in freaking September. "Blast the heat."

"You got it, dude." Casey turned all the vents on high, blowing papers off his dash. "Did you just quote Full House?"

He smirked and said, "I did indeed, my friend."
