Sherlock ran in what seemed like slow motion. He turned the corner to find Bethany lying down with blood coming out of her side. Sherlock filled with anger and sadness as he rushed over to her. She gave him a weak smile. Sherlock removed his favorite scarf and hesitated before pressing the scarf on her wound. His shaky hands pulled out his phone and called Lestrade, telling him to bring an ambulance to their location. He hung up and pulled Beth's head on his lap.

"You're going to be fine, Beth. I won't let anything happen. I will make sure that you get better." Sherlock stroked her hair and Beth placed a bloody hand on his face.

"Thank you." Bethany weakly said.

"For what?" Sherlock was still shaking.

"For your scarf. I know you love it. Blood is hard to get out." She chuckled.

"Yeah. But I don't love it as much." Sherlock smiled. Bethany sighed and heard the ambulance.

Bethany was rushed to the hospital. Sherlock refused to leave her side. He constantly placed small kisses on her forehead. Lestrade looked at him funny, but Sherlock didn't care. Bethany soon found herself falling asleep. Sherlock gently stroked her hair.

He was terrified. They had just started becoming close and now Bethany might die. Or blame Sherlock for getting her shot. He didn't want to loose her in any way. So he sat in her hospital room until he was told to leave. He even spent one night in Beth's room. He didn't sleep, he watched over Beth to make sure she was okay.

Bethany woke up to the sound of Sherlock quietly sobbing. She looked over at him to find Sherlock sitting in the seat next to her bed. He noticed that she shifted and sat up.

"Beth? You awake?" his voice was shaky and he wiped his tears.

"Yea. I'm awake. You okay?" Beth asked Sherlock, grabbing his hand. He smiled at her, and she smiled back.

"I'm fine."

"Then why were you crying?" Bethany questioned Sherlock as he sat down on the bed.

"Because..... things were going so well. And then I made you go first. I should have gone first. I should have been shot. Not you." Sherlock rested his hand on Beth's cheek.

"Sherlock. Don't say that. This happened to me, and nothing we can do will change that. There is tremendous pain, and I don't want you to want that. I would die if I saw you like this." Bethany told him in a firm voice. He gave her a weak smile.

"I just hate to see you like this." Sherlock rested his head on Beth's arm.

"I know. Then don't see me. Just close your eyes. I'm not shot, we are not in a hospital, and we're at home, in bed. Just picture that. Don't be sad Sherlock. I hate it." Bethany begged. Sherlock nodded and shut his eyes. He went to wrap his arms around Beth, but she yelped in pain. He then realized that his elbow was on her wound, and quickly moved.

"I'm sorry." Sherlock kissed her forehead and Beth smiled.

"Stop saying sorry. This wasn't your fault. There is only one thing on your part, but you don't need to apologize for it." Bethany smiled.

"What's that?" Sherlock questioned.

"You stole.....my heart." Bethany flushed. Her face began hot.

"Yes. Cheesy, but very true."Sherlock confirmed as he looked up at her and gave her a quick kiss. They both smiled and fell asleep.
