"You're sure it's no trouble?" Steve asked as he unloaded Lillian's suitcase and took it into Clint and Laura's house. Steve had to call Clint to take Lillian, since he had no clue when he would get back.

"Don't you worry about a thing." Clint said shaking his head. "She will be fine. She can keep Lila, Cooper, and Nathaniel company."

"I really appreciate it." Steve said as he watched Lillian walk around the room with Nathaniel. "I feel terrible leaving her." He shook his head and crossed his arms. "What kind of a dad just runs off to do crazy stuff like this." Clint shrugged and Steve sighed. "I didn't mean any offense to you."

"Eh, none taken. I've felt the same way." Clint exhaled slowly as he looked over at where Laura was reading to Lila. "I'm grateful to be done though, if I'm honest."

"I don't know if I'll ever be done." Steve sighed as he glanced out at the jet awaiting his arrival.

"It's not exactly an easy industry to leave." Clint admitted. "Basically controls your whole life."

"That's for sure." Steve could've cried as he watched Lillian. He remembered the day he found her. Alone. Dirty. Forgotten. Unwanted. Steve didn't want to have her be left behind again.

"She knows you love her." Clint seemed to read Steve's mind as he put his hand on Steve's shoulder. "She will be here waiting for you."

"I know." Steve nodded and walked over to Lillian. She smiled as her dad bent down to her level. "I gotta go Lilly."

"Daddy stay and play." Lillian said as she hugged him. Steve let a tear roll as he hugged her back.

"Daddy's gotta go to work. I'll be back. I promise." Steve looked Lillian in her beautiful blue eyes. "Uncle Clint and Aunt Laura are gonna take great care of you."

"Uh huh." Lilly said as she played with her dad's hair. Steve smiled and kissed her cheek. "I love you."

"Wuv you too." Lillian said. She tried to follow Steve out the door, but Clint picked her up as the little girl started to whimper. Steve couldn't even look back at her as he boarded the jet and headed to see Tony.
