chapter four

Damon's pov:
The Salvatore boarding house, two days later

I wake up to the sound of my blaring alarm on the nightstand. I quickly grab the alarm clock and press the button so that it won't go off again.
I look down and I see Elena laying her head on my chest with her arms wrapped around me. She shifted in the bed and pulled the cover up and around herself. She looked so beautiful. I'm so lucky that I met her. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't met her.

"Damon your staring again" Elena says as she turns and kisses me.
"I mean how can you not stare? I can't just see my girlfriend looking all hot and not stare." I say as I kiss her again.
"Damon it's too early let's go back to bed" Elena says as she nuzzles her face in my neck and wraps her arm around me.

9:43 am
Elena wakes me up with a kiss. When she was pulling away to go lay back down beside me I wrapped my arms around her and I pulled her closer to me. She was now on top of me and we continued to kiss passionately until the alarm on my phone buzzed.
"Mhmm...babe what time is it?" Elena asks as she slid back into my right arm.
"It's 10:20 am" I say placing my phone back on the nightstand.
"I think we have enough time before Little Gilbert gets back to resume that steamy little make out session" I say looking down at Elena.
"You really had to call it that? You really had to?" Elena says as she sits up.
"Yes I did because it was a really hot make out session you can't deny that." I say smirking down at Elena.
"Ugh Damon you can be such a dork sometimes" Elena says as she grabs a pillow and hits me with it.
"Oh you want to play that way?" I say laughing and grabbing another pillow.
We hit each other with the pillows until we hear the doorbell ring.
"NOT IT!" Elena says.
"Why it's your turn to answer the door, Elena" I say giving her my infamous smirk.
"I'm kind of wearing only a bra and panties!" Elena says as she points at her body.
"We will answer the door together!" I say still smirking at her and grabbing her a pair of workout shorts and a tank top. I speed downstairs and get the door. Elena isn't far behind me. I open the door to reveal a little girl with a red wagon filled with cookies.
"H-h-hi sir w-w-would you like some cookies?" The little girl asked quietly and innocently.
I turn and smile at Elena as we exchange looks.
"We will take two boxes of each type of cookie" I say as I see the little girls head pop up and she beams with joy.
"Really!?!" The small child says as she begins jumping up and down.
"Yep" I say as I look at Elena and smile.
The little girl unloads the cookies and I sign a sheet.
"Thank you so much!!" The little girl screams before running down the driveway to her mom.
I close the door and Elena is beaming.
"I never knew that a big bad vampire like you would buy Girl Scout cookies!" Elena says as she takes the bag out of my hand.
"Hey! I got those cookies for the both of us you know!" I say as I flash into the kitchen where she begins un bagging the cookies.
"Mhmmm these look so good" Elena says as she turns to me.
"I know what else looks really good" I say as I look at Elena.
Elena smiles and walks over to me.
"Can we have a kid one day?" Elena asks as my heart stops. My heart stopped 150+ years ago but it felt like it stopped again in the moment.
"What did you say" I ask trying to make sure I'm hearing right.
"Can we have a kid one day?" Elena repeats as she looks up at me with her big brown eyes.
"Why do you all of the sudden want kids? I know we haven't really talked about kids but I would like them further along in the future. Maybe when you graduate from college?"
"But Damon did you see how cute she was?! I want to be that mom one day watching her little girl sell Girl Scout cookies to the neighbors." Elena said as she gave me puppy dog eyes.
I stand still, trying to come up with an answer.
"Damon please? Pretty please?" Elena says as she wraps her arms around my waist and looks up at me.
"Elena baby, I want to have kids as much as you do-"
"THEN LETS HAVE A KID!!" Elena says as she squeezes me.
"BUT there would be a very big risk that you wouldn't survive it." I say looking down at her to see her smile fade to sadness.
"B-b-but we could still try right?" Elena says with a hint of despair in her voice.
"Princess, I don't want to loose you. If I loose you I also loose the baby and I can't loose both of you." I say while kissing her forehead.
"I want this so badly Damon." Elena cries. "Why can't you understand how much I want this! Do you not love me enough to have a kid with me!" Elena says pulling away from me and turning around.
"Elena, I couldn't love you more than I do right now. You are my everything. You found parts of me that I didn't even know existed. If I did anything right in my life it was when I gave my heart to you, I truly believe that you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, Elena. I will continue to love you until I take my last breath on this earth. I want to have kids but if that means I may loose you in the process then I can't do that. I'm nothing without you, Elena. Don't you walk away from me." I say as I walk towards her, spin her around, and kiss her passionately.
As we part I see her wipe away her tears and smile up at me.
"I love you too" she says as she wraps her arms around my waist and I kiss her forehead.
