*One Week Later*
*Skip's Point of View*
A am so excited. Tonight's my first date with Sara! She got out of the hospital a few days ago but I haven't seen her since she was spending time with her family. Asking her out went so well, we're getting ice cream then seeing a movie after. That first kiss was perfect, it was a kiss you'd only ever heard of in movies, just so romantic. Maybe I'll get another kiss like that.I pulled up to Sara's house. It was exactly 7:00. I am not being late for our first date. As I walked up on her porch, a cliché couple of suburban parents opened the door, the woman in front of the man.
"Welcome! You must be Daniel!" The woman said. "Sara has been talking about you all day!" She ushered me inside.
I didn't know I would be meeting her parents today! Geez...I would've been more prepared. This isn't going how I planned it would. Where is Sara anyway?
"So you're going to the movies?" her dad asked. I nodded. "I saw that it ends at 10:30, so I expect her home no later than 11:00 of course, which obviously means-"
"DAD!" I saw Sara rush down the stairs. Was he about to give me the sex talk? That's just fuc-
"Dad! Be quiet!" she interrupted my thoughts. "It's not like we're going back to his house!" she said, looking over at me. "Sorry Daniel." I glanced down awkwardly.
"Well you two get going! Have fun at the movie tonight!" her mother said.
Sara grabbed my hand, rushing me out the door as I brought her to my car.
Once we were inside, we started talking about how we were doing in the week we hadn't seen each other. "That was so embarrassing." muttered Sara.
I laughed, "It's fine."
We went to get ice cream then saw the movie, but really couldn't get our eyes off each other. Damn, I really wish I could take her home tonight.
"My dad's a bit overprotective of me, I'm an only child." she said, apologizing for her family again after the movie. "How about you? Got any siblings?"
Shit. I guess this is how it was gonna come out. Hailey and everything. "I'm an, uh, only child I guess..." I mumbled. I just don't know how to tell her.
"You guess you're an only child?" She asked sarcastically and laughed. "You seem really protective sometimes, like you have a younger sister or something."
I softened.
Hailey.
"Anyway," she continued, "I know it's early...but how about past girlfriends? Did you have any where you used to live?"
Wow that is an early question. I can't believe she'd ask me that. "Not really any serious girlfriends, no." I replied. And that was the truth. A few dates but not really any girlfriends.
She looked at me suspiciously then glanced at my pocket. Why was she looking at my phone? Did she not believe me? Sara grabbed my phone and looked at the home screen, the front menu said "Hailey" on it.
"No girlfriends, Skip?" Then who the fuck is Hailey?" she shouted angrily.
Who the hell does she think she is? I noticed her getting ready to legit jump out of my car.
"HAILEY WAS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND!" I screamed, stopping the car. "You wanna know my secret about my past, Sar? Well now you're gonna hafta know because what you think is a FUCKING lie!" I said angrily. "JUST BECAUSE YOU SEE A GIRL'S NAME ON MY PHONE DOESN'T MEAN SHE WAS A GIRLFRIEND! Hailey was my sister."
