Chapter 16: New Girl

*Sara's Point of View*

It all went by slowly as I fell. Beau, Daniel, everyone flashed through my mind. My eyes were closed as I dropped down.

My intentions were to hit my spinal cord and end it. Everything.

As I waited to be encased in darkness, I felt myself softly land in a pair of arms. Who was it?

He gently placed me down. "Sar...don't try that ever again. You know I love you too much." Beau whispered. "I'm so sorry. I never should've said anything to you."

"How did you know?" I asked him quietly. "That I was gonna do it?"

"It hurt me to leave you. I came to apologize." he said. He hugged me tightly. "I'll never leave you again. Listen to me. I love you."

"Beau Peter Brooks. I love you." I whispered.

We fell into a deep kiss, standing in my yard. I'll never let go of him. It's all over now. No more Susan. No more Randy.

Startled, I heard a crash of thunder, followed by some lightning. Within seconds, rain was pouring over us. We ran under my roof...but I had an idea.

"Hey Beau?" I said.

"Yes, beautiful?" he asked.

"I've always wanted to try something."

"As long as I don't end up in the hospital." he said, laughing.

I dragged him out into the middle of the street as we got soaking wet.

Quick Note: Play the chorus of Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran right now. So perfect. I'm imagining this like a movie hahaha.

We left no space in between our bodies as we kissed. Our kiss in the rain.

And we kissed like never before.

We kissed.

With the perfect background of the rain and thunder.

Everything was perfect.

I opened my eyes for just a second to see his beautiful face. Behind him, I saw a car's lights getting closer by the second. It didn't see us. It wasn't going to stop. But what scared me more was-

Feeling my lips leave his, he opened his eyes. The second he saw the car he pushed me away to the sidewalk, leaving him in the street.

And I watched the boy I loved with two bullet wounds and a broken nose get hit by a car.

*Luke's Point of View* A Few Minutes Earlier

We walked over to our house and Jai drove us to the hospital to visit Skip. In the rearview mirror I saw Beau walking over to Sara's house.

I'm happy he's trying.

As we pulled up to the hospital, I saw a girl sitting on the curb, crying.

"I'll be in there in a bit, Jai." I told him.

"What? Why?" he asked.

"Just go inside and ask what room Skip's in. I'll be there in a bit." I repeated.

"Um, okay." he said, leaving.

I walked up to the girl on the curb. She was beautiful. Her eyes stood out to me the most. They were  dark cinnamon colour. I couldn't stop staring. "Hey, what's up?" I asked.
