I wake up in Mason's arms. After falling asleep with him last night I didn't dream at all. All the anger I felt at him leaving me with no explanation resurfaces when I think about why I had a nightmare in the first place.
But he isn't obligated to keep all your demons away. When I think this my anger deflates and I start feeling the need to pee. Wiggling I try to get up but that just makes him tighten his arms possessively. Groaning I turn to wake him up when I notice him staring intently at me. Blushing I realize I must have woken him up wiggling around.
"Do you know how beautiful you are?" He whispers, his warm breath fanning across my face. I wrinkle my nose as I feel heat crawling up my neck and ears. As he leans forward I start to squirm. When he's just centimeters away I turn my face and he kisses my cheek. I push him off me, jumping up and running into the bathroom.
When I'm done I don't leave the bathroom, afraid he's still in the room. I look in the mirror instead whispering words of encouragement.
"You are amazing. You can do anything. You don't need a man. You just choose to let him take care of you. You don't have to like him, not even when he's super sweet, not because of his fluffy black hair, not because of those rock hard and that you could li-"
"Did you say something, Scar?"
"Uh nope nothing no nothing at all absolutely nothing." I stop before I put my foot in my mouth, even more, and walk out awkwardly. I notice he's at the door and sigh in relief thinking he was letting it go.
"I'm sorry for pushing you Scar, I think you should know by now that I like you as more than a friend. I know you are going through a lot so I won't pressure you into anything until you're ready. I'm willing to be whatever you need me to be, even if that means I'm relegated to the friend zone," he chuckles at the last bit. I just nod not knowing what to say.
"I'm making chocolate chip pancakes." And not because he might be an amazing cook and can feed your food fetish for the rest of eternity. I say in my head thinking about my conversation with the bathroom mirror.
"Yummy! Except do you have blueberries?" I say thankful to talk about something else.
"Yes," he rolls his eyes. "But there's something unnatural about not liking chocolate."
"Oh whatever Mase, your just jealous that I'm more original than you," I wink and stick my tongue out at him, thankful that we can go back to normal.
"I could never be jealous of someone who lacks my appreciation of chocolate."
"I'm too hungry to continue this argument even though you're the one that's wrong." I laugh when he crosses his eyes and sticks his tongue out the side.
"Whatever maybe I just won't make any for you," he says walking away. I stay stunned for a few seconds before running after him pouting.
"You wouldn't let me starve, would you?" He softens his shoulders dropping for a millisecond.
"No sweetheart, I wouldn't let you starve," he says kissing my forehead, before going back to being playful smacking my butt. "Now go sit while I make magnificent pancakes."
I jump when I hear ringing, Mason looks at his phone then looks at me shaking his head. I jump up and run to grab my phone answering it just before it goes to voicemail.
"Hello?" I say breathlessly.
"Answer your door," A mechanical voice says before hanging up. Confused and a little scared I look at the phone with my brows pulled together walking to the front door. I open the door and freeze.
"Who was that sweetheart," Mason calls from the kitchen. When I don't move or answer I hear him come up behind me and take a sharp breath. "Fuck."
