Hey, guys! Here's another update, please read on and hoping you'd enjoy the story this far. Thankyou and thankyou so much! Have fun . . . !☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Alexa's POV
Gene's eyes were like a pair of night prowlers in my head, these would torture me come night time!
However, images of him would pop up anytime it suited him, at the same time keeping its nightly watch during sleep boring a hole inside my inner mind!
Fatigue was another story altogether, I thought working myself to death would send me to dreamland as soon as my head touched my pillow, but it just seemed a sweet deathwish!
Sleep couldn't keep my friendly visitor from entertaining me till the wee hours of the morning . . . for my mind had its way of taunting me, bringing my hopes and wanton emotions up to cloud nine!
I knew I had to delete . . . erase anything tha connected me to him. It has now become more apparent than just wishful thinking, my own mind has its own agenda beyond my best efforts, rendering everything completely futile.
Wasn't I glad that my boss had made herself scarce these past few weeks, work I thought would become a balm to a sick heart? But I'd been so wrong.
My own body's cravings and my heart's desires would only sneak through forbidden routes.
I have managed to keep things under control in the clinic though, myself included. The little pesky beasts, mainly the dogs and our cats, strays and patients alike, was more than enough distraction to keep my wanton thoughts at bay during day time.
"Melanie . . . ! Where have you been??? You've stayed away for more than a week . . . !!! No . . . it's been 10 freaking days, to be exact." I answered my cellphone that was incessantly ringing inside my lab gown's pocket.
"Yeah . . . yeah! I know Alex! I'm just so sorry! Maman came to pay me a visit . . . unannounced . . . ! And . . . I just forgot . . . ! You know very well . . . communications isn't really my forte . . . "
"Really . . . "
"Really, Alex! You . . . of all people know I don't lie . . . !"
"Sure, you don't my friend! But, yeah . . . okay! I'm listening . . . " I was hoping my sarcasm wasn't lost on her.
"And, I just can't leave my beloved madre all alone in the apartment . . . mi amiga!"
"Mel . . . ! Cell phones have long long been invented . . . and I'm just a call away . . . if you wanted to . . . you know . . . How could you . . . !
"Ooops!" I gasped.
Melanie was supposedly my boss, and I just couldn't be that bossy with my own employer, right?
Really! Her prolonged absence had made me feel like I was the boss, alright! I was treated like one by our new clients! And it just made me so uncomfortable the whole time.
"Hence . . . this call, my friend . . . !"
"Ohhh! You aren't getting out of this that easily my Mel . . . !"
"Hahahahaha . . . !" Melanie just laughed at me.
"Melanie . . . !!!" I almost screamed my friend's name on the phone.
"Alright! Alright! I know Alex . . . ! Well . . . yeah, I just presumed things . . . you know . . . a lot . . . ! And I thought I had you there to cover for me . . . and, of course Marc is there . . . !" She stammered.
