The day of the Mate's Ball~
I leaped through the forest shifting in to Charlie, my inner tiger, so I would not be late for breakfast. I shift back before anybody can see me and open the front door and enter the house. My mom is their cooking breakfast while my Dad is reading the newspaper. I take a seat next to Josh, my brother, and prepare myself for Mom's speech.
"Why aren't you running with the pack?" My mom asks me, curious.
"Because.." I pause thinking of a good excuse.
"I'm too slow, and I don't want to be known as the runt." I lie. My mom just rolls her eyes and says to me.
"Just get ready for the Mating Ball." My mother says stating my biggest fear.
I sigh, and run up to my room, on the way Josh tries to trip me,but due to my cat-like grace, I instinctly leap over his foot, and trip him. He's too slow, and trips.
"The runt? Huh? Why do I doubt that?" Josh muses as he goes to his room to nurse his bruised ego.
We have to be careful V.
Why Charlie? Josh isn't smart enough to put together the pieces.
True but still. Be careful.
I will.
When are you going to tell your parents you know you're adopted?
I don't know.
Just get ready for the Mates' Ball.
Please don't tell me you're excited.
Just go get dressed.
Yes ma'am.
I could feel Charlie rolling her eyes, and I laughed and got ready for the Mates' Ball, though I doubt I even have a mate.
