“Grief does not change you, Hazel. It reveals you.”

It wasn't fair, I thought childishly. None of it was fair. I'm going to lose my best friend, my mate is a werecat killer, I'm about to go into dangerous werewolf territory, and I am going to be a Luna, something none of us saw coming. I sighed incontently, my heart filled with grief. My werecat had died tonight. My charlie was gone. I let a single tear fall down on my cheek, I couldn't let Jace see me sad. He would know something is wrong.

I was in his car, my face pressed up against the glass window.

"We will be home in ten minutes."

Home. Something I had never felt, in my life. I had never felt like I belong, always I was the black sheep of the family, the square peg in the round hole, never fitting in. I was going to be Luna of the Redwood Pack, even though I was different from them, I couldn't let them know that. That I was different. Because if they ever suspected, they would most likely kill me.

"We're here." Jace said, opening the passenger door for me, I stepped out carry my briefcase containing all the weapons, Kara gave me.

We walked down a labyrinth of hallways, and Jace stopped at a red door, with a antique-looking doorknob.

"This is your room, settle in, and unpack. Dinner's at six." Jace left, after that.

I opened the door and heard a unfamiliar creak.

I sniffed, someone was here.

The door shut unexpectedly, and put their hand on my mouth.

"Shh... Don't scream. I'm here to help." A male voice said.

I sniffed again.

He was a werecat.
