"Hey Skye, don't you find Fly annoying?" I stretched in relief, finally free for the afternoon. We were walking down a side street, knowing it as a shortcut home.
"Not really, I can't feel emotion, remember?" I sighed.
"Of course." We walked out onto the main road, seeing familiar braided hair, tucked under a yellow bandanna. It was Okotta, one of the boys in our class. He was standing by a shop window, staring at a sheet of paper, his black eyes wide with fear.Leiko Hatira... The name sent chills up my spine. I pulled the poster off the shop window to get a better look at it. The photo shown was a criminal record. He had been caught before. He held a blurred sign and on each of his forearms, hardly noticeable, were clan tattoos. One was faded and another was as black as his hair. Just at that moment, a dark shadow loomed over me.
"What are you looking at?" I whipped around, my heart stopping when I saw a tall shadow looming behind me. It took me a moment to realise that it wasn't Leiko but, my crush. He wore a black hood over his head, hat in hand and his crimson satchel over his shoulder. His hazel eyes were shaped like that of Leiko's, but not as... dead looking. His puffy cheeks and square jaw mimicked that of the criminal. Could they be related somehow? His curious eyes flicked to the wanted poster and back to me. "Do you mind if I have a look at that?" I snapped out of my thoughts, shaking my head.
"I don't mind," I handed him the sheet of paper, watching as he read it. I saw him smile for a split second, as if looking over a past memory. Skye attempted to look over her brothers shoulder but couldn't, due to her height. The brunette tugged at her twin's sleeve. "Can I see it, Tyler?"Tyler.
I bolted off, waving my hand at the twins, one of them looking rather surprised as I ran off. "I just remembered something important! I'll see you two tomorrow!" I shouted, disappearing from view around a nearby corner. As I ran, I saw a terunian-like shadow in an alleyway but paid no attention to it as I navigated my way through the city of Carah, back to the safety of my home.
