Carah Academy has five distinct houses; Liese, Parsei, Kiyes, Allusei and Juresmon. Whatever ability you have determines what house you go to. Each house is a version of the Seliuan translation of each of the Earth elements.
They were all still staring at Skye, their emotions swirling through my head. They were confused, fearful. Some were even angry at the short brunet. I flinched, feeling a strange tickle at the back of my neck. I turned around, seeing Tyler, head on his desk, his shoulders shaking with laughter. I glanced back at Skye, just in time to see her shrug casually, as if she gets this much attention everyday. The teacher quickly turned on the tv, the blue hologram screen flickering before it settled on a news channel, showing the local donut shop, just a few blocks away from the school.
"There has been a report of a donut robbery here," the tv boomed as a tall, lanky teenager waltzed out of the shop, holding a bag in one hand and a receipt in the other. He looked up at the camera, waving the piece of paper around to show he didn't steal. "Wait, the culprit seems to have just walked out with paid donuts,"
That was when Tyler lost it. He burst out laughing as the hologram screen disappeared. Now all eyes were on him. Before he noticed that everyone was looking at him, the bell had rung, signalling free time.Madoc free time. Skye and I were sitting in a small club room, books in our hands, reading the foreign characters with ease. Japanese was hard and probably pointless to learn, but it's enjoyable, being able to understand more than the familiar text of Seliuan. I glanced up at my sister, freezing in shock. Stonefaced, she continued to read her manga, her unusually pink eyes glued to the page. She glanced up at me and a look of confusion crossed her eyes, fading back to green. "What?" I was still staring at her, mouth gaping open like a fish. "Tyler?"
"Ah, Okotta! I thought you were going to be here today!" A familiar force had greeted me as I rounded the hedges, cutting the garden off from the rest of the school. Fly was sitting on a wooden bench, up by the castle wall. He was smiling kindly at me, an expression I wasn't used to seeing on his face, since he is always goofing around. I moved to sit next to the Caran nervously, wondering how much he knew about my crush and whether he would ruin my chances or help me figure things out. I had noticed that the entire time, his curious brown eyes had followed me, his kind smile changing into a crazy grin. Oh no. This was a bad idea.
"So Tyler, Eh?" He asked, wiggling his eyebrows and nudging me with his elbow. Instantly, my face flushed. Definitely a bad idea.I sighed as I left the school, in a more flustered and confused state than I was when I arrived. Fly had already known, which was good in a way, seeing that I did not need to tell him myself. His advice was reasonably good but I feel like they were too ambitious for me. I turned a corner when I heard a deep voice.
"Hey, kid. Yes, you. Lance boy, come here," it growled. I froze, turning my head to look down a long, dark alleyway, an even darker figure standing by the entrance. The stranger wore a long cloak, a hood lifted over his head. The man's eyes gleamed as I approached him warily, wondering what he wanted. "You're having trouble with relationships, correct?" His karotria bark sounding again as he spoke. My eyes widened in surprise.
"How do you know that?" I barked back, trying to sound threatening. The shadowy man chuckled, the throaty sound making the ground vibrate.
"I have my ways," he smiled, showing his sharp white teeth. "Those little tips your clown friend gave you are useless," he spat the word clown. He doesn't seem to like Fly. My distrust for him had grown. The shadowed man's arms appeared from behind his cloak, holding a small, box. "A present, for you. Perfectly safe. This will give you a more... appealing ability. One that will grab his attention,"—————
A/N
Hey there! I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while but I have been going through some personal stuff lately and on top of that, writer's block. I have gained inspiration though, thanks to the real life Fly and his suggestions. I have decided to work on building characters and their quirks, as can be seen in the last chapter (that I have scrapped and rewritten on multiple occasions) and have created some new characters that I'm eager to introduce at some point! These new characters will play a smaller role in this book and will not follow the main storyline until late so I'll be calling them side stories for now. At times, I'll merge them into chapters with the main line but they will mostly be in separate chapters. Some of you might have noticed a new word, karotria. I might as well paste my description of this animal since I'm too lazy.
Karotria: dog-like creatures with a long snout and legs. They have flat ears, short fur and a thin tail that reaches the ground. They have a strong sense of smell and hunt for themselves and are normally used for hunting and sometimes as a mount.
That's it for this author's note! Don't expect me to post another chapter anytime soon! (Unless you continually nag me to post..)
But anyways.. Seeya in the comments and the next chapter!! Bye!
