My body feels like I've been in a desert all day. I'm hot and sweaty, and even the air conditioning doesn't help.
Wait, air conditioning?! I can't afford that! I sit up in bed, then arch my back and make a really embarrassing noise as pleasure runs through me. I lay back down quickly, afraid that if I move too much it'll happen again. I stare up at the ceiling for a bit, then turn my head slightly when I hear the door open. It's a nurse, and I realize I'm at the hospital.
"Oh, you're awake?" She asks, smiling. "Great! I'll go tell the doctor, and your mate will be in soon."
"My m-"
"Shh, shh! It's not good to talk too much until we give you the suppressants Mr. Wheeler." She says, and I huff. She walks out without paying me much attention, and I wait in silence for a minute or two. Then Kaiba walks in and I start to feel even hotter. He has a face mask on, and when he doesn't move to sit I can't help but start to squirm.
"Are you, um..." He starts, and a small whine slips out of my throat at the sound of his voice. He averts his gaze and pretends not to notice. "Are you okay, Wheeler?"
My eyes gravitate to where his lips would be beneath the mask. I open my mouth to say something, then close it when the doctor walks in.
"He shouldn't speak before he takes the suppressants. I'm sure when he regains full awareness he'll thank us." The doctor said, smiling.
"Why should he not talk?" Kaiba asks, and I want to call him an idiot. I don't, because I don't know what type of sound might come out if I try.
"He's still under the effect of his heat, although the sedatives have calmed it a bit." The doctor explains, then says in a whisper that he probably thinks I can't hear, "Wouldn't you be embarrassed if you couldn't help but moan?"
Kaiba blushes slightly and nods, then looks over at me. A moment later, the nurse walks back in with some pills and hands them to me. I take them without question, then drink the water that she offers me next. When I open my mouth to say somethin', she shushes me again. "Wait until you cool down a bit, okay?"
I nod and the doctor and nurse leave the room. I sigh, then look over at Kaiba. I wonder for a moment what happened after I passed out at lunch. Everything is a blur honestly, and I can't grasp any memory of what happened fully. Except...His face looks red, and he has a hand over his nose too.
I remember Kaiba all too clearly. The way his eyes looked; the way his hair moved as he ran beside me; his scent, full of distress but refreshing like a winter wind. I blush as I realize I've been staring all this time, and I look away quickly. Kaiba definitely noticed, I'm sure, because he was staring too. I hope he doesn't say anyth-
"You kept saying my name, you know." He doesn't sound smug, and I look back over at him. He's lookin' at the floor now, and he looks confused. "I thought... When I saw Mai pulling you out of Coach's arms, I thought she had hurt you. I-" He seems to think for a moment, then he looks up at me. "I really wanted to kill her, you know. But then I heard you say... And I knew you were okay. And..."
He trails off and it gets quiet. I swear he can hear my heart beating from where he's standin', it's beating so hard. I want to say something, but the suppressants haven't kicked in all the way. I'm about to just say screw it, when he starts to talk again.
"I just don't know, Joey." He says it as if I had asked a question that was impossible to answer. I sit up, wincing at the jittery feeling along my spine, and he immediately leans forward to make me lay back down.
"You shouldn't-" he starts, then closes his eyes as I lean up further and connect our lips through the mask. I pull away and give him a little half smile, even though I'm worried as all hell that he'll get mad. "I don't know either... Seto."
He looks at me for a moment, then pulls his mask off and leans down, a hand resting on the bed for balance. I close my eyes as we kiss again. It's a simple kiss, and yet it's hesitant and questioning; as if by pressing our lips together we're asking if this is really okay.
I don't expect an actual answer, but I get one in the form of Tristan standing in the doorway, which is now open.
"Oh, HELL NO."//823 words in 20 minutes! A new record for me!
//sorry about the cliffhanger. I'll probably continue it really soon though! I'm finally over my writers block for this story, so I'll be updating as often as I can now! Yaaaaay!
