When You Said You Love Me

Chapter Two

When you said I'm your everything,
Did you really mean it?
Did your heart beat as fast as mine did,
When those words you said?
To me you are the Earth and stars,
And everything between it.
Do I mean as much to you?
I can't get you out of my head.

After a week that seems like a month, I finally cool down. I take a shower and eat an actual meal, then call Yugi. He answers almost immediately.
"Hey Joey, is everything okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was wonderin' if you can come over for a bit. Just us Omegas?" As soon as I ask, I wish I hadn't. He's probably busy. I'm surprised when he actually isn't.
"Sure. I'll be there in half an hour." He replies. He sounds more cheerful than usual, and I wonder for a second what I missed.
When I hang up, I don't really know what to do while I wait, so I gather up my sheets and pillowcases and put them in the washer. The sooner I get the smell of heat out of here, the better.
A few minutes later, there's a knock on the door. I'm sure it's not Yugi, since he couldn't have gotten here that fast. When I open the door, I'm surprised to find the one and only King Douchebag, Seto Kaiba.
"Where is that little runt?!" He asks, looking through the door.
"Huh? You mean Yugi?" I ask, then glare at him. "He's not here."
He doesn't look like he believes me for a second, and after I offer no more information he steps in, moving a few things around. I growl at him to leave, but it doesn't sound too threatening. I'm about to try pulling him out when he hears my dryer rattle in the closet.
"What was that?" He asks, walking towards the closet. He's determined to find Yugi, for some reason or other, but that's one place he really shouldn't look. I rush to stop him, crossing the room faster than I ever thought I could.
"W-wait, don't open that-!" I rush, then go silent when I realize it's too late. As soon as he opens the door his eyes go wide. His hand shakes on the knob and I take a step back. Seto is an alpha, and I'm sure he smells the scent of my heat on the blankets I was gonna wash next.
He turns slowly, but I flinch as if he'd turned suddenly. I take a few more steps back as he steps towards me, then yelp when I hit the wall. He pins me between his arms and leans in, his nose brushing up against my neck. I gulp, then jump when Yugi walks through the door.
"What's going on?!" He asks in shock. His voice snaps Kaiba out of whatever's goin' through his head and he backs up, his eyes wide and his breathing rapid. He looks over at Yugi and glares weakly at him, then strides passed him and out the door. I stay pressed against the wall, a bright blush on my face as Yugi walks in all the way. He sniffs the air, then shuts the laundry closet door.
"Are you okay Joey?" He asks. I nod and move to close the front door, then sit on the couch.
"I'm fine." I say, then smile at him. "I'm glad you came over. I was actually pretty lonely..."
"Why was Kaiba here?" Yugi asks.
I shrug. "He wanted you for somethin', and he thought you were hiding here. He opened my closet and..."
"Do you... Think he was going to do something?" Yugi asks awkwardly.
I shrug again, shaking a little. "I don't know. He hates me pretty bad, and I don't think any instinct could change that."
Yugi laughs. "He doesn't hate you, but you're probably right. If you don't like being around someone, it's probably easier to refuse."
He doesn't notice I'm shaking, and I'm really glad. I don't know how to explain the way I'm feeling right now... Instead, I change the subject. "So, what all did I miss?"
"Well..." Yugi blushes. "The foreign exchange student started sitting with us, and Tristan thinks that he has a crush on me. I'm kinda nervous around him... And because he might have a crush on me Tristan is picking on him."
"Oh really?" I chuckle. "That's totally like Tristan. A total cock block."
Yugi blushes and hides his face. "He means well, at least."
Yugi moves his hands and smiles, then he raises an eyebrow. "How was your heat? Tristan said he was there when it started..."
I blush. "It's not what you think! He was just worried about me so he slept over, and I kicked him out as soon as I felt it comin'!"
Yugi giggles and raises a hand to cover his mouth. "You're denying it so bad, it sounds like you're hiding something."
"Am not!" I say quickly. Yugi just rolls his eyes and says, 'suuure.'

When I go back to school on Monday, I don't expect to be in a life or death situation. It happens anyways.
