I slide my math book and a red folder into my black backpack before having a look at my newly organized locker. SQUIP had instructed me on the most efficient way to grab my things without disrupting the order that has been created, so now the compartment should be able to stay relatively clean for a long while. I send SQUIP a look to see if he approves while holding onto the door of the blue locker. He nods his head in approval, his arms still crossed from when I first started arranging the folders and books according to his demands.

"Very good. Now, let's head to the front of the building to meet up with Logan. We don't want to keep him waiting for too long or else he'll leave. You won't get a second chance at this if we don't play this out carefully."

'Yeah, yeah. I hear you,' I think to him as I shut my locker door.

"You also want to make sure there are still a few people around, so he doesn't feel like he's going to be murdered," SQUIP adds, causing me to send him a soft glare.

'Hey, I'm not that creepy.'

"Y/N, have you even payed attention to your life until now? You have a huge reputation as a stalker and an eavesdropper. Both of those labels are extremely unappealing and are viewed as freakish behavior, so yes, you are that creepy."

I groan and roll my E/C eyes at the supercomputer before making my way to the front of the building to meet up with Logan. SQUIP follows close behind me the entire way. Once we exit the front doors, we find Logan leaning against the school building while tapping his foot against the grassy ground impatiently. I gulp nervously and take a deep breath before going down the front steps towards the boy.

'I hope you're right about this.'

"Just remain calm. It's only a little conversation. You'll do fine," SQUIP reassures. When Logan meets my gaze, he lets out a disinterested huff.

"So, what do you want, creep?" He asks as I approach him. I stop at a good distance, not wanting to make this any more uncomfortable for either of us. I glance over at SQUIP for assistance, since it was his idea to come out here in the first place.

'What should I say?'

"Say this with me:"

"Up up down down left right A," we say in unison. Logan yelps and grips his head before shaking it. His wide, brown eyes blink a few times before he gasps. The boy's expression instantly lights up, confusing the hell out of me.

"You got one!? So that's why my SQUIP said it was okay to come out here!" He exclaims with a grin on his lips, but is sure to keep his tone down in case any non-SQUIP users decide on listening in.

'What the heck just happened?'

"I synced with his SQUIP. I'll explain more later. Just concentrate on Logan right now."

"Yeah. Mine told me to tell you," I explain to the black-haired, high school student warily. It feels weird talking to him, considering my social status at the moment, but if SQUIP thinks this'll help, I guess I have to bear with it.

"Hey, sorry about calling you a creep, that's just what mine told me to say. So, what's yours in the form of?" He asks curiously. I smile slightly, feeling a little more confident about talking to the guy now.

"He doesn't look like anyone specific, curly, dark brown hair, taller than me, and that's about it. What about yours?" Logan clears his throat, his cheeks tinting a light pink like he's embarrassed or something. This reaction causes me to raise a brow.

"You didn't pick that sexy, anime female option, did you?" I ask, but he shakes his head and gives a light laugh.

"Nah, nothing like that. I had mine take the form of... George Washington," he mutters in a low voice. I blink a few times in surprise.

"Like... The actual president or the one from Hamilton?" He sighs softly and is about to run a hand through his nicely gelled hair until he stops abruptly. It looks like his SQUIP decided to give him a miniature shock to prevent him from completing the action. Logan instead drops his hand to his side.

"The president. I was a huge history nerd before I got it. Still am, but now I'm more of a closet fan. Just don't tell anyone, okay? It'd fuck up my rep."

"Don't worry. My lips are sealed." I drag my thumb and index finger across my lips in a zipping fashion before pretending to flick away a key.

"Outdated," SQUIP warns, but refrains from shocking me, which was greatly appreciated. Logan chuckles lightly, though, finding my actions amusing. You know, I never would've expected him to be the history type. I happen to have history with him, and it honestly appears like he doesn't give two shits about anything historical. He's always just chatting with his friends. I can't help but tense up on instinct when Logan slings his arm around my shoulders. That tension fades instantly after SQUIP does a little something to my muscles to force them to relax.

"Hey, you and me should hang out sometime. Come over and play video games maybe? Did you know you can use your mind as the controller now that you've got a SQUIP?" He mentions while pointing to his head. His calm demeanor and light smile tells me that I've gained his trust.

"Really?" I ask, turning my head to view SQUIP, who's standing beside me. He nods his head to confirm the teen's claim. "That's so cool!"

"I know right?! Hey, I'd like to be known as the guy who knew you before you got cool. It'd really boost my status. That'd be fine, right?" Logan asks, causing me to pause.

"Uh..."

"Agree," SQUIP demands, noticing that I froze.

"Sure thing, man." I give Logan a smile, which he instantly returns.

"Sweet. Well, I'll see you tomorrow, creep— I mean, best friend." The black-haired boy pats my shoulder and sends me a wink before releasing me. He then walks past me to get to the school parking lot, where his blue convertible is parked. It's an older model, but it's well kept and beautiful. It makes me wonder how much he had to pay for it. SQUIP hums softly, sounding a little confused, so I turn to give him my attention.

'Is something wrong?' I ask, feeling a little concerned.

"I thought for sure he was going to offer you a ride home. Perhaps I need a quick reboot?"

'It might have just been a small error. Don't worry about it. It's all good now anyway, right? I've got a friend now, so that's something.'

"I suppose it's progress. It's small, but it works."

'So, what exactly was it that you did?'

"I synced with Logan's SQUIP to form a bond between the both of you. It's how you two became friends so quickly."

'Huh. Cool.' SQUIP smiles softly.

"Now, it's time to head home and continue sorting through your belongings."
