I awed at the cute, little faces belonging to a many number of purring creatures with fluffy tails and big, round eyes as they greeted customers, lounged around and walked around the café. The cats were almost enough to cheer me up, and part of me liked to believe that it was part of the reason SQUIP requested we come here. Animals always tend to make me feel better, but today, my mind is a little too occupied to fully enjoy them. On top of confessing what a rough time I've had lately, I was curious about this question Logan is supposedly going to ask me. SQUIP is being cryptic about it, not even giving me a hint as to what it could be. The way he froze up at school about it was weird too.

I push it to the back of my head for the time being as Logan and I find a table in the corner, away from the other customers. Once we were settled and ordered our drinks, I tell him about all the things that have been going on lately, how tough it's been for both me and dad. It's been hard staying strong through it all, but luckily, I had SQUIP there to help me. He's been filling me in on all the research he's been doing on grief and mourning to better help me, and we found some good ways to cope. He's gotten better at comforting me as well.

I truly don't know where I'd be without him here with me. I could never stick this out by myself. The old me would've probably grown more reclusive and shut everything out, possibly even my dad. I would've felt so frustrated that I would've torn myself apart. With SQUIP there, he kept me from falling so low. That isn't to say I don't make it difficult for him, but he gets me out of bed in the morning and gets me to eat. He never stopped the healthy routines he had me establish into my day, though he has been going easier on me, and I hated every second of it, yet I was grateful at the same time.

"Wow, yours actually sounds like a nice guy. Mine's kinda an asshole," Logan says after telling him all this, and moments later, he jumped a little in his seat, straightening up, which nearly got a chuckle out of me, knowing all too well that he was shocked for that comment.

"Mine is too, but he's getting better at it. He's been taking my own feelings into consideration." I could feel the corners of my lips moving on their own into a smile, but it wasn't directed towards Logan, rather towards the entity standing next to me as straight as a soldier. I would've turned to show it to him directly, but he would've just scolded me for taking my attention off my friend or for acknowledging him publicly. I come back to Earth when something slid over my hand and looked down to find Logan's squeezing it in comfort.

"I'm so sorry you have to go through that, Y/N. If you ever need someone to talk to or keep your mind off things, just give me a call, and I promise I'll be there." SQUIP shuffled in the corner of my eye, gaining my attention a bit. He looked antsy about something, like he wanted to do something but kept himself from doing it. After realizing I noticed, he stilled and stared ahead like he was, playing it off as if nothing was abnormal. This made me suspicious.
