Your POV:
____________________________________'So, we're going to the pet store why?' I mentally ask my supercomputer companion who walks at my side wearing blue-tinted shades, dark blue jeans, white shirt, and a black jacket with colorful, splatter paint marks as a pattern.
"I've been doing some research on places that are hiring to get you a decent job. This pet store seems the most convenient," he explains, causing me to quirk a brow at the blue male.
'What do you mean by convenient?'
"Well, I've been considering it lately, and I think you should buy a pet."
'A pet? Are you crazy? I can barely take care of myself!' SQUIP sighs and shakes his head at me. I imagine he rolled his eyes too, but I couldn't see because of the sunglasses.
"Honestly, Y/N, I'm trying really hard right now not to shock you." He mentions through gritted teeth. "Now, let me finish."
I remain silent as I step into the shop I was ordered to go into. The store isn't very large, and it's pretty clean inside. Blue signs with white writing hang from the ceiling, labeling the aisles and mark where the animals are kept. The shop has quite a few customers inside, some of which have dogs that are walking around on leashes. Perhaps working here wouldn't be so bad. I'd be hanging out with cute pets all day.
"I know your parents are going to freak out if you come home with a dog or a cat. It takes too long of a process to purchase one of those anyway. You need something immediately."
'What for?'
"They're good conversation starters, especially if you bring someone over, which will happen soon if things go according to plan, which they will," he states with confidence before looking over towards where the smaller animals are kept. "Now, have a look at the tanks over there. No fish either. They barely do anything interesting."
'What exactly does this have to do with me getting a job here?'
"That's the perk. You can get the pet supplies at a discount if you work here."
'Huh. You really did think this through, didn't you?'
"Mhmm." He grins, enjoying the implied praise. I shake my head at him with a small smile on my lips as I examine the hamster tanks. They have some cute ones that's for sure.
'What do you think: a rodent or a reptile? Maybe a bird.'
"No birds. They make too much noise, and you can hardly hold or pet them. Either or on the other two. It shouldn't matter." I hum softly in thought as I look over the fuzzy critters in the tanks, but my eyes finally land on a fat, fluffy chinchilla who's cleaning his face with his little paws. I always did find them adorable. A wide smile comes to my face when he looks up at me with those black eyes while wiggling his wittle whiskers.
'Oh my gosh, I need him.'
"I think that's an excellent choice."
'You think?' I look over at SQUIP who squats down beside me to look into the lowest tank, where the grey rodent resides. He takes his glasses off to observe the creature more closely.
"It's more on the unusual side when compared with your average rat, which makes it more special. You have enough to get one too with the money we got from selling your things."
