Dawnflower woke from inside a small cave. The rain hadn't stopped since it started it still poured hard and heavy. She turned around to see Cardinalpelt still sleeping behind her. After they had reunited he acted weird. He begged her forgiveness for what reason she couldn't figure out. Then they found the cave before the downpour began and talked about their plans for the future which ended in an awkward talk about kits. After that he had curled close to her and fallen asleep without her telling her true emotions.
Dawnflower stepped out farther letting the rain tap her nose. Before her she saw the clear downpour, mist, fog and the whole clearing was a dimly lit gray.
She thought it'd be best if they tried hunting. She had only drank water since the days started. Starvation was setting in and her stomach was rumbling more than five times a day. Dawnflower turned around to tell Cardinalpelt her idea, but he was already stretching and walking up to her.
"I was thinking maybe...we could try cheating the games. We could both live...live out our future together...have those kits." Cardinalpelt spoke.
Cardinalpelt stared at Dawnflowers blank stare. His whole opinion had flipped once he saw her again, something he couldn't explain. All he knew was that his anger faced the capital now. He had no right to blame Dawnflower for his brothers deaths, he hated himself for even thinking of plotting Dawnflowers death.
Dawnflower frowned and turned away. She still felt love in her heart from Cardinalpelt but something was off and eating at her. "Um we should try hunting see if we find anything." She announced ignoring his earlier comment.
"Oh okay sure you and me going on our first hunt together," He pounced in front of her and looked up at her his rear in the air playfully.
Dawnflower found herself purr but she shook her head. "Cardinalpelt you're not mad at me at all? For...your brothers?" Dawnflower cursed herself for asking it just slipped out, but her heart knew something was wrong. Cardinalpelt had ignored her for many upon many seasons to suddenly act the way they had when they were apprentices. He could just feel the same way she did and want to tell Dawnflower his feelings, but she expected more anger from him than total forgiveness. This sudden hope for a life that couldn't happen made Dawnflower uneasy.
Cardinalpelt sat up astonished that Dawnflower even asked her that. She was smarter than he could of thought, but how could she tell? His emotions had turned in a total different path what gave her the right to sit there and ask him that he showed her nothing but kindness.
"I was...I actually hated you. Everytime I looked at you it reminded me of my brothers." He admitted.
"But you have to know why I did it! I didn't mean for that to all happen," Her voice was desperate. Desperate for him to listen to her.
"I understand. I know," he meowed trying to calm her. It had all hit him at once when he ran into her yesterday. "I mean I don't know why I was even thinking of harming you-"
"What?" Dawnflowers voice whimpered.
"No no Dawnflower! Its not like-" Cardinalpelt began but Dawnflower ignored him shaking her head. Her heart shattered into thousands of tiny pieces that fell to her stomach making her want to puke.
"Don't you ever come near me again!" Dawnflower hissed and raced away into the pouring rain. Thunder boomed over her head and the sound of rain drowned out any calls Cardinalpelt had.
Ravenpaw woke up shivering his pelt soaked by the rain he rolled over and realized he had rolled away from Silverpaw whos whole body shook under the pounding rain her body however was heaving to breath.
"Silverpaw!" Ravenpaw got to his paws shaking his pelt out, but it didn't help much since the rain was still pouring from above.
The district six apprentice padded over to the shaking apprentice sniffing her. His heart began to race as he realized she barely had any warmth coming from her. He looked around for any sign of cover from the rain but there was only a lonely willow visible through the fog and mist of the rain pounding off the ground. He grabbed the cold apprentice by the scruff and quickly pulled her as gentle as he could towards the willow.
Once the two were under the willow Ravenpaw realized it wasn't much coverage from the pouring rain. He panicked pushing against Silverpaw trying his best to wake the apprentice.
"No Silverpaw! You can't leave me! Wake up! Cloudfern saved us for a reason! Please!" Ravenpaw croaked his eyes filling with tears.
"Hey wait!" Silverpaw shook her hindquaters playfully chasing another familiar sandy brown apprentice. She wasn't able to put a name on him, just that she was trying to catch up with him in a beautiful sunny meadow. The breeze smelled of warm fresh kill and the sun was just warm enough to where it was comforting. Suddenly the tom disappeared.
Silverpaw turned around in circles searching until she was facing a lone willow that had a small black pelt under it. Silverpaw padded closer to the pelt recognizing Ravenpaw.
"Hey Ravenpaw!" Silverpaw raced up to her fellow tribute only to find him frantically panicking and sobbing.
"Ravenpaw whats wrong?!"Silverpaw reached her paw out to him but it went right through him.
"He's made your journey to starclan a much more comfortable journey," an angelic she-cats voice came from behind Silverpaw.
Silverpaw turned around to see the familiar white pelt of Cloudfern, except her pelt shone like a star in the night sky. "Welcome to starclan young one."
