The alarm system was up, and we even awoke a few tree ents to attack and neutralize the person carrying the object. We had even laced the ground with enchanted water streams just in case.
We were shaken after the adrenaline wore off. We both skipped dinner and went straight to bed.
I woke up to the alarm and just stayed laying down when I remembered the events of the previous day. Jax eventually woke up and reached over me to turn the alarm clock off.
“Everything okay?”
I nod and give him a small smile. He smiles back and goes getting ready for the day, after he started to change I decide I may as well get ready and set up more defences for any more attacks that may occur.
We headed downstairs to find a line of people outside the shop looking frantically through the window and when they saw us they started waving us over, I recognised a few of them as former customers or from nearby towns so I let them in.
Then one of the people asked Jax if he was an alchemist. He was and said yes, and they all looked so relieved at his answer. They asked him if he knew how to purify taint, once again he said yes. They asked us to go to one of their towns to look at something.
“Of course we wi-”
“Before we go can I grab some things?”
They replied with a gracious yes and all went back to waiting outside. Jax looked over at me and gave a look of concern. I smiled and started collecting items I might need.
I grabbed a ton of stuff for alchemy and for purification. We headed out with the townsfolk and saw the damage. The stream had been polluted with taint, the trees were becoming corrupted, and the animals were being corroded.
Jax and I got to work immediately. I set up the ingredients while he started mixing tinctures and poured three of them in the river. Where he poured them started to return to the clear blue it once was and started to spread, in an hour the entire river would be purified. Then he told me to disperse a small beaker of fluid on all of the town, with a small burst of magic the fluid rained down in a thin layer and started to dissolve the corruption. Then he started to treat the animals, he layed out a trough of food that was laced with enchanted water.
The townsfolk watched in awe as all that happened and started to lead us to the next town that was tainted. We did this for the other three towns that had had progressively more damage due to time passing. It was horrible, the amount of damage was grotesque. Buildings that were tainted were corroded and needed to be rebuilt or repaired, roads deteriorated much faster under the influence of taint, and animals were forever changed. While the animals would no longer hold taint, the effect would last until the generation that made contact was over in by the next generation.
As Jax and I were walking home we felt the warning that meant the alarm went off. I started to teleport us instead to save time and we were there in a flash.
Three cloaked figures were trying to fight off the tree ents to no avail and were quickly bound by my magic. They were all average height and had deep blue cloaks with purple runes sewn onto them. They were members of The Tainted Sun.
Hiya there, still having chosen a name... I still wanted to upload this part, hope you enjoyed!
