The Spells that Bind Us

The Fortress

They were startled by our sudden appearance and were still trying to escape to no avail. Jax and I walked over to them cautiously and pulled off their hoods, the intruders weren't any of the infamous members, which calmed some of our nerves, but we were still worried. We had never given The Tainted Sun a reason to attack us.

Jax went into the shop and left me to deal with the intruders and I thought that I should improve the entanglement. I called out to Jax to come out so we wouldn't be leaving them unattended before I improved it. Jax yelled, "I'm coming in a sec," back.

After a 'sec' he came back with three vials. He went by the intruders and poured one of the vials down each of their throughts. They were immediately knocked out. I took the chance to untie them and drag them to a tree and the then up against the tree. I realized they might need a guard so I awakened the tree and asked it to stay rooted and only come up if anyone tries to release the prisoners.

I went back inside to find Jax heating up last night's mac and cheese for dinner. He looked over to me and said, "I'm worried."

"So am I Jax, so am I."

The next morning we heard a knock on the door. We opened it to see three people with badges but with normal clothes on. I was worried these were fake cops but they started talking before I could ask. "We are here to collect the members of a criminal organization that are captured here, we have also been given the confirmation phrase, 'I like to spoon.'"

I nodded and led them to the tree. The prisoners started squirming after seeing us and the tree's roots waved in front of them in a threatening manner. I then noticed the multiple bruises on the prisoners arms and legs from the roots. I then asked the tree to fall asleep. After it settled I bound the prisoners in thinner rope and used magic to make sure the rope doesn't go beyond three yards from the officers. Then I untied the prisoners and they immediately tried running away. They then ran into their own hands due to the spell that confined them. I was about to awaken some rocks for a golem to send with them when they used magic to teleport themselves away.

After that large of a run in Jax and I got back to defenses. The tree ents were very powerful due to our location in a forest, and because of the magic imbued in this forest enchanted water is in excess, so we won't run out of that anytime soon. I also decided some more natural defenses would help, so I started to awaken more trees and asked them for permission to grow a system of their roots around the house as a line of defense, and to increase their offensive power. They agreed and helped me with the magic to increase the rate of growth and strength of the roots.

Sorry its been awhile, I could say I've been busy... but i was just procrastinating, so i made character sheets as an apology!!  I will also be releasing the next part later today!  See ya!
