Chapter 15

"Who's next?" Gem asked casually with a hint of amusement in her voice. Her face lost all playful features it had and showed darkness instead. There was a wide grin plastered on her face as she stared at us one by one as if searching for her next victim. Corrie, Eddy, and I stood staring at her not saying a word. I wanted to try to calm her down but decided against it when I noticed Corrie wasn't making an attempt to do so.

"No one wants to volunteer?" She continued; her grin getting wider by the minute. "Well then I guess I'll have to choose.

"Enny, Meany,Minny,Mo," she said as her finger stopped. "You."

"Me?" I managed a whisper.

"Little Devil," She said still pointing at me. "What shall your punishment be?"

I didn't understand what I did to Gem and why I was being punished. A part of me wanted to put her in her place while the other part told me to be quiet so my 'punishment' wouldn't be as bad.

I was never a coward and I knew that I shouldn't start now. I've always said what was on my mind and was never the type to let fear get to me. So, with the lady courage I suddenly build up, I stood up and walked over to Gem and stood right in her face.

"Who gives you the right to punish me?" I asked; my voice sounding stronger and more demanding than I anticipated. 

Gem’s grin slowly faded but suddenly came back. She stepped away from me and went over to Eddy and Corrie. 

"You guys didn't tell her?" she asked. 

I turned around and saw Corrie and Eddy shaking their heads.

"Well she'll to find out soon enough," she said coming closer towards me. "Your punishment shall be... well I shouldn’t say anything. Don't want to ruin the surprise." The little courage I had was now gone and fear took over my body as I began to shake uncontrollably. I wasn't sure if it was from the weather or the strange vibe I was getting from Gem.

Gem was now in my face and her eyes were more orange than ever. I wanted to tell Corrie and Eddy to help me but I knew it would've been of no use.

"On your knees," she commanded. And again that strange power took over me as I quickly got on my knees. 

"Good girl," she said patting my head. "Shall we begin?"

I wanted to know what she was going to do me. I didn't have powers or wasn't special like they were, so I was really curious.

Gem placed her right hand over my face and said something again I couldn't understand. She then placed her left hand on my neck where the mark was. She started to say something again but was suddenly jerked back.

I opened my eyes and noticed her a few feet away from me. Eddy and Gem instantly rushed to her side and I slowly got up.

"What happened your Royal?" I heard Corrie asked.

"Did your powers back-fire your Royal?" Eddy asked.

I walked slowly to Gem and wondered why they were calling her 'your Royal'. Is she some kind of special Nyarkinx?
