Gem and Corrie looked up at me from the floor. Their eyes were shining even brighter as they stared at me. Gem opened her mouth to say something but then closed it and continued to look at me.
“What are you?” I repeated again moving back and away from them.
Gem sighed.
“We’re not going to hurt you,” Corrie said.
“Are you witches?” I asked again with fear in my voice. They shook their head.
“Are you even human?” I said getting even more terrified. They couldn’t be. No human could do what they just did.
“We are,” Gem said getting up and sitting on the bed. This made me jump backwards and hit my back on the bed head.
“We’re honestly not going to hurt you,” Corrie said in her playful voice while jumping on the bed next to Gem.
“We’re just a special type of beings,” Gem said grabbing Corrie’s hand. “We’re Nyarkinx”.
“What is that?” I questioned trying to push my back towards the bed head more.
“Humans who can see events of the past and future,” Corrie said coming closer to me. “Relax we’re not going to hurt you,” Gem said. “If we wanted to, we would’ve done it already silly,” Corrie said while giggling.
“Can you kill?” I asked.
“Yup,’ Gem said casually. “But once a Nyarkinx takes a life they loose all their power.” I calmed down a little. I’m sure Gem and Corrie wanted to keep their powers so they wouldn’t kill me. For some reason, I felt safe around them; like they wouldn’t harm me.
“We also have other cool powers that we specialize in,” Corrie said excitedly. “I have super speed and can hear anything up to 3 miles if I want and also when I’m asleep.” Well that explains why she hears everything at night. “And Gem can command people to do things.”
“And your eyes…” I said as Samuel came into mind.
“They change to orange when see we the future and past,” Gem explained.
“Orange?” I asked.
“Yes,” She said.
“Only orange?” I said now curious and confused about Samuel.
“Yeah,” Gem replied.
“Are there more people like you?” I asked a little more curious.
They nodded.
“In this school?”
They nodded again.
