ZhengTing ate breakfast alone, as usual. Thankfully, there was no one to startle him awake today, Meirong didn't come to demand WiFi.

He didn't know if it was a good sign or a bad sign but at that moment, he was thankful for the peace.

ZhengTing finished breakfast early so he decided to go to the company earlier than usual. As he picked up his things and left the apartment, he heard loud talking from the end of the hallway.

Curiously, ZhengTing looked at the direction of the sound to find the landlord discussing something with one of his neighbors. He narrowed his eyes, trying to identify the neighbor before he recognized the apartment they stood by. It was Meirong's apartment.

Is she in trouble of some sort? ZhengTing raised an eyebrow as he tried to catch up with the landlord's loud words.

"You have to start paying more attention to your increasing debts. It's been two months since you last payed off your rent," the landlord scolded. Meirong's head hung low as she gulped nervously, muttering a low apology to the angry lady before her.

"Your apologies won't do me any good, Huang Meirong. This is your last warning, pay off or you'll be stripped of your apartment," the landlord threatened before storming off.

Meirong watched the woman's back with hatred as she strode down the hallway. It wasn't until she was gone that she noticed her neighbor staring at her.

"Are you here to lecture me about getting a job too?" Meirong crossed her arms. She had her handbag slung over her shoulder, she was going somewhere today.

"Uh, not really. It's none of my business," ZhengTing chuckled sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his neck.

"But, do you really not have a job?" He asked.

"Yeah."

"Then who-"

"My parents fund for me since they sent me here to study," Meirong replied instantly, knowing the question he was about to ask.

"Aha, but why is she mad then?" ZhengTing asked as Meirong stepped closer to him.

"I don't know, that's why I'm going to see my parents," Meirong sighed and the two started walking towards the staircase simultaneously.

"I see," ZhengTing muttered.

"So you're not staying over to use the internet, right?" ZhengTing tried to hide the happiness erupting within him.

"I guess so," Meirong sighed, "you must be really happy now."

"Me? What no-"

"Don't try to hide it, Zhu ZhengTing," Meirong rolled her eyes. "Anyways, good bye," she said before walking ahead of him, not waiting for a reply or looking back.

A cab dropped Meirong back at her apartment. She has spent the entire day with her parents and things weren't going well for her. With a heavy sigh, she stepped into the building and made her way towards her floor.

As she walked through the second floor's hallway, an idea struck her. She stood before ZhengTing's door, hesitating before knocking on it firmly.

In an instant, the door opened and ZhengTing's head popped from behind.

"Oh, you're back. How was your trip?" He gave her a small smile, slightly surprised by seeing her at his doorstep again.

Without sparing him a greeting or a reply, Meirong just said her request. "Can you help me find a job?"
