As ZhengTing was getting out of his apartment, he saw Meirong getting out of hers.

"You're leaving now?" ZhengTing asked somewhat loudly. Meirong snapped her head towards his voice, seeming startled by his question.

"Yeah," she replied.

"You're going by taxi, right?" ZhengTing asked again as they started walking simultaneously.

"Yes," Meirong answered as she checked her handbag, looking for lip balm.

"When does your shift end?" ZhengTing's questions started to irritate Meirong, "It ends around six, now please, will you stop asking questions?"

"I was going to offer you a ride instead of spending your money on taxis. Y'know, since our shifts start and end around the same time," ZhengTing rolled his eyes at his neighbor's attitude.

"Oh," Meirong chuckled embarrassedly, "I'd be grateful if you'd drop me off."

"Sure."

Work at the library wasn't tough but it was boring. Meirong tried to find interest within organizing books, but the quietness of the library made everything seem slow and dull.

Today wasn't an official day of work, it was one of her trial days. Before joining the library's staff, she must prove she's worth it, and Meirong wasn't planning to get fired this time.

Her long shift came to an end as the clock hit six. Meirong headed towards the staff room where she stumbled upon the manager.

"Good work today, Meirong," The manager patted her shoulder with a smile, "If you maintain this pace, you'll soon be accepted as part of our staff."

"Thank you," Meirong bowed as the manager left. After gathering her things, Meirong left the library.

While she was struggling to find a taxi, a familiar car pulled over. Meirong scrunched her nose in confusion when she recognized the car, why is he here?

Meirong stood unmoving in her place, forcing ZhengTing to get out and call her.

"Stop standing there like a fool and get in!" He said.

"You didn't have to come," Meirong sighed.

"Dropping you off includes picking you up, but if you really don't want to, I'll leave," ZhengTing got into his car, making Meirong roll her eyes and get in the passenger seat.

"So," ZhengTing began as they entered the main road, "How was your first day of work?"

"Eh, boring," Meirong shrugged, "How about yours?"

"Miserable," ZhengTing chuckled bitterly.

"Why?"

"Xiaoqin and her boyfriend kept treating me like trash, and being the pushover I am, I took it silently."

"Seriously," Meirong tutted, staring at the boy weirdly, "she'll always treat you like that if you don't change that habit of yours."
