I awake to an empty bedroom.
My head is pounding from last night. Maybe champagne and beer aren't a good mix.
I slowly roll over to the edge of the bed. The floor seems so far away. Thinking about getting up only makes my head hurt worse.
But getting up means I can get some water and aspirin.
I slowly sit up.
I look to the edge of the bed and notice clothes neatly folded on the edge of the bed. There's a white button down covered in a pineapple print and green shorts which makes the pineapple print pop. Jungkook must've laid my outfit out.
I can get used to this.
I eventually make my way downstairs after getting up and taking a shower. My nostrils are instantly filled with the smell of bleach.
This is only making my headache worse.
Hoseok and Taehyung are both in the kitchen. Hoseok's raven hair hangs loosely as he mops. Taehyung is wiping down the counters with some type of cleaning solution.
"Why are you mopping with bleach water?"
"Good Afternoon Jiminie," Hoseoks mumbles avoiding my question.
Afternoon?
My arms cross over my chest as I stand in the kitchen's opening. I repeat my question. "Why are you mopping with bleach water?"
Hoseoks sighs as he rests against the fridge with the mop. Taehyung lays down his rag and sits his spray bottle to the side.
Hoseok, caring as always, begins to speak to me in a soft voice. "Jimin, you may have missed a spot when you were cleaning last night."
Hoseok is always caring and careful with his words. But I remember wiping down the counters and the island. I know I did.
I can't stand a dirty kitchen.
"I remember wiping down every inch of this kitchen space. So why would you say that?"
Taehyung and Hoseok share a look. Hoseok leans the mop against the wall closest to the fridge. He then reaches in the fridge retrieving two bottles of ready made ginger tea and a bottle of water. He passes Taehyung a tea and passes me the bottle of water.
"There was spilled blood from last night's meat." Taehyung answers this time.
My water bottle feels like a weight. "What?"
Hoseok lightly pats my shoulder. "Simple mistake, Jiminie. We found blood near the garbage that seems to have leaked from the packaging."
Last night replays in my mind. I vividly recall myself cleaning the kitchen. I even used the same cleaning solution that Taehyung is using now. I sprayed it on the counter and the floor before mopping.
I clean as I cook and after I cook.
Something isn't right.
Hoseok takes a sip of his tea. "The blood and the summer heat must've had some type of weird reaction. Yoongi and I woke up and found the kitchen covered in maggots."
My mouth instantly drops. And my skin feels itchy. My body twitches at the thought of one crawling on me.
"But it's okay. Yoongs cursed a little, well a lot, but helped me to dispose of the maggot problem. Taehyung came down after that and helped me to disinfect the place."
My body continues to twitch. On the outside it looks like I'm doing a shimmy but I'm just really uncomfortable.
Those maggots were in the house because of me?
