Chapter Two
Justice
"So exactly who is that?" Justice asked as she peeked out the window to watch Donavan drive off. I definitely have to get a taste of that fine specimen. She thought to herself.
"I already told you-" Miss Tabitha began but was cut off by Justice.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a very lovely man with a great job and manners." She mocked, rolling her eyes. "I got all of that, but what you failed to tell me was that he had a kid." Justice turned from the window when she was no longer able to see his car, giving the woman she admired the most a pointed look.
Miss Tabitha waved off her looks and began flipping through channels on the television. "That wasn't my place to say. Besides, I think you two would be great for each other, you love kids, he love kids. He's a hard working man, you're a hard working woman."
Justice couldn't help but roll her eyes at the old woman. It was the same thing every time she came here. Miss Tabitha would tell her about this guy she knows, or a friend of hers know, and try to play match maker. Justice has done all she could to avoid every single one of those dates, but this time, she just may have to take her grandmother up on that offer.
Besides, all she's really looking for is a good time between the sheets, nothing more, nothing less. She had too much at stake to commit herself to one person.
"Sure it wasn't, but you're lucky I like kids, and speaking of. I need to head down to the center to set up for this week's activities. Are you going to come to the show case next month?" Justice asked as she gathered up her things.
"Of course dear, just give me a heads up on the date and I'll be there. I'll even make my chocolate chip cookies everyone love so much." Miss Tabitha agreed. Aside from being a daycare provider she's an excellent baker.
"On the subject of cookies, you might have to bake another batch and bring it by. I don't think this batch will make it until 3." She said around a mouth full of cookies. Miss Tabitha stood and popped her hands as if she was a child.
"I just knew you couldn't keep your greedy hands off them which is why I made another one. They were the ones I pulled from the oven when Donavan came." She entered the kitchen and grabbed the empty container that was next to the fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies. She placed each one inside and sealed it shut. "Now these better make it to them children or I'll have to beat you myself."
Justice couldn't help but laugh, leave it to Miss Tabitha to still treat you like a child even when you're 25 years old.
"Okay, I promise they will make it. I'll see you later grandma." She kissed her cheek taking the second batch of cookies and leaving her house. As she climbed into her car, she checked the time and saw she had an hour to spare before she had to go set up. She decided to use that time to check up on productions at the trap house and dig for more information.
This wasn't a job she particularly cared for, but it was good money and her father trusted her enough to hand the business over. She just hope she'll be able to keep it under wraps. Her father had opened a bank account for her when she was a kid, but used a different name. That's where most of the money from the cartel was going. And for her own personal use she made sure to add small payments to her public account. Just enough to not draw suspicion.
She dug through her purse and found her phone to make a phone call.
"Ice, make sure I have those papers on my desk in five, I'm on my way to check up on things before tonight's meeting." She instructed once they picked up.
