Chapter Four

Donavan

Donavan was hidden in his office going over the case files for the twentieth time that day. It was the file on the Rocky drug cartel, there was just something that wasn't adding up. Something they had been missing for the past few years, yet he wasn't sure what it was. There were pieces that were missing, and some pieces just didn't fit into the puzzle, and he was determined to figure them out. Two taps on his door broke his concentration as he seen one of his close friends Jonathan stick his head in.

"Yo Spade, boss man wants to see you in his office in ten!" Donavan nodded his head but waved his friend inside.

"Tell me what you know about the Rocky Cartel?" He questioned as he took another glance at the first file, containing information on its former boss, Jackson Darnell Richards also known as Blade.

"Well, from what I gathered, Blade had been running the business for about two years before it even got off the ground. He always kept some type of legit business on the side as a cover up, but we were never able to figure out what it was. We had a guy working on the inside but he never came back. We just assumed he was caught and they killed him."

"But what did you guys find out about Blade?" Donavan was curious to see just how far they had gotten before the trail went cold.

"Well sources told us that he had a wife who was pregnant, but after the wife died he went off the grid for a while, with no sign the kid survived. We checked medical records, but there was no sign of birth nor death of a child. So we believe he paid someone to cover his tracks, or he went under a different name. However, product was still circulating, but there was never a sign he was running things. A few months later, he came back in full force and business sky rocketed. That's when we started cracking down on the investigation. He was good with covering his tracks, making sure to not leave anything behind.

"It took us a while to even get close enough to bring it down. We had planned to shut the cartel down but then there was a shootout between Bloods and Crips, and Blade just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. After his death things just got quite and we figured it all died right along with him, so we never bothered to go back to the case-"

"Until six years ago, when things came back in full force." Donavan finished for him. "Alright thanks JB." Jonathan got up from the table and headed out of the office. Donavan sat there trying to look back over the file when his eyes fell upon the picture he had of his girlfriend holding Donavan Jr his first day home from the hospital.

He wasn't sure why but he started thinking about Justice and how Jr would take to her, if he'd like her or not. Jr was all he had left in this world and his opinion mattered the most. He then found himself daydreaming about her curves and how beautiful she looked in her jeans. How they hugged her waist just right and made her legs seem longer. How the sun sparkled off her beautiful brown eyes. The beeping of his watch pulled him from his trance and he suddenly remembered the meeting he was to have with the chief.

"Hey Miss T. Just leaving the office, how's lil' man?" Donavan asked as he tossed his brief case in the back seat before climbing into the driver's seat.

"He's doing just fine. The medicine the nurse gave him wore off so he was throwing up for a little. But I gave him some tea that was able to settle his little tummy. He's been sleeping most of the day. I just gave him more tea so he'll probably be sleep by the time you get here, and since it's getting late I think it'll be good if he stay the night." She said suggested.
