Six miles later, your legs were shaking as they weakly attempted to hold your body up, your skin was moist from the amount of sweat that had bled through your skin and to top it off, the sun had just set and it would only be an hour at the most before you were plunged into darkness.
Coming home from a weekend visiting family, you had been all smiles and took the back roads to avoid traffic and to enjoy the nature that coated the horizon. All was well until your god damn shitty car decided to stop.
Not break. No flat tyres. Not run out of gas. Just completely stop and failed to respond, no matter how many kicks to the engine or punches to the steering wheel.
So in hopes of reaching some kind of gas station or a house that held phone service to be able to give a friend a call to come get you a couple of hours out of town, you set off walking and prayed something would come by.
You were just starting to give up hope and accepted your fate of probably being killed by a serial killer in the bushes or even attacked by some wild animal that stalked the fields, until you saw headlights lights flashing behind you as a car started to slow, having seen your lonely figure walking the road.
Just keep walking, you told yourself. You'd watched enough shows like forensic files to know not everyone was willing to let you hitch a ride, without an ulterior motive.
"Hey?" A female voice yelled, over the noise of what sounded a very expensive car engine. "Hey!"
Taking your chances, you came to a halt and looked at the car in shock. You didn't have a clue what kind of car it was, except that it far too expensive to sit in the local dealership by your house. Metallic rims glistened in the darkness, the illuminating headlights lighting up at least 500 feet ahead and reflected off the matte black exterior.
"Are you okay?" The mysterious voice questioned, still masked in the darkness.
"Um, my car broke down a few miles back. I don't suppose you have a phone with service with you?"
"I have a phone, I'm not so sure about service down these parts. Let me check." You saw her silhouette reach for her phone, holding it at different angles before throwing it down to the passenger seat. "I'm sorry, I don't."
"That's okay. Sorry for wasting your time." You smile at the figure before attempting to walk further down the road but the car slowly rolls after you.
"Look, I'd feel really bad for leaving you out here. It's gonna be dark soon and it's gonna take me at least another hour to get to a city so you'll have to walk for hours. Let me give you a ride. I can take you home or I can drop you at a gas station." Sighing, you turn to the car as you ponder but before you can reply, the driver's side door swings open and a gasp escapes your mouth as you finally catch a glimpse of her. Holy shit, she's beautiful.
"I- Um-" Words seemed to suddenly fail you, your eyes captivated by the tanned brunette, who was smiling softly.
"I promise I'm not some serial killer and I'll keep both of my hands on the wheel. Scouts honour."
"Hmm, that's something a serial killer would say." Smirking back at you, you knew she knows you've caved and were about to accept. "But I guess I'll take my chances."

"So, do I get to know your name?"
"Demi. My names Demi."
"Pretty." You nonchalantly shrugged, trying your best to avert your eyes. Too scared you'll get lost in her. "I'm Y/N. Nice car, by the way. Far too nice to be on this shitty, broken road."
