"Babe, don't worry about it."

"Easy for you to say. Your parents accept you. They love you for who you are-"

"Just like yours will Y/N."

"Dem, I don't think I can do this." You feel her body press up against your own in bed, her hand trailing smooth patterns on your half naked back to calm you down. "You know how my parents can be. This isn't something I can say over dinner and it'll be embraced."

"You don't know that."

"I DO know that. I've never been good enough for them. They constantly compare me to my younger cousins. Do you know how embarrassing it is for your cousin to come visit from 4th grade and your mom to sit and give you a lecture about how better she is than you, in more ways than just education? My TEN year old cousin Demi."

"I know babe." Her voice is soft, almost like a whisper as she holds me tighter.

"I don't know what I'll do."

"I don't want to put any ideas in your head or make this negative but you know if anything does happen, you'll always have a place with me-"

"Demi, I can't-"

"No, listen to me." She moves my head from her neck, making me look up into her brown eyes. "I spoke to my mom and without hesitation she said if you ever needed a place to stay, her door is always open. I mean that Y/N. It's time to be who you are, to show the world what an awesome person you are." Her hands held up your face as her thumbs swiped your cheeks, collecting the few tear droplets that we're running down your skin.

"I love you so much."

"I love you too." She sealed it with a soft kiss, moving her hands to intertwine with my own. "Now, do you want me to be here when you tell them? You know I will be."

"No, things could get ugly and I don't want you to have to witness it. I'll be ok. I'll call you straight after, ok?"

"If you're sure." She sighs, pressing one more soft kiss against your lips. "I'll go before they get back. You've got this, ok? And I love you, no matter what."

"I know, I love you too. I'll call." Promising her one last time, you watch as she pulls herself up from your bed, changes back into her clothes and grabs the few things she's left around your room earlier today.

"Bye baby." She grins, stopping at the door to give you one last look of hope before she disappears from sight. She was right, you could do this. It was time to show the world who you really are, starting with your parents.

"Y/N, we're home!" No longer than ten minutes since the door slammed, signalling Demi's departure, it was swung open by your parents.

Sliding from your bed, where you'd spent the last ten minutes overthinking the situation which was about to happen as you breathed in Demi's scent that was left on your duvets. The most important thing, no matter how terrible the situation could go was that you had her by your side. That was what truly mattered.

"Hey sweetheart." Your Dad smiled to you as you slowly headed down the stairs. Sweetheart meant he was in a good mood, thank god for that.

"Hey Dad. Good day at work?"

"Busy but as successful as usual."

"You never ask about work. What do you want?" Your mother intervened, looking at you through the mirror as she pulled out her overly expensive earrings.

"N- Nothing." You shrugged, watching the two looking less and less professional as they settled into their home. Ties were thrown off, earrings pulled out, hair brushed through and shoes discarded in the lobby.
