"That's TigerClan's territory finished off," Blackfoot concluded his speech with a smart grunt. It was morning in the forest, and you and Tawnypaw had gone with Blackfoot to see all of TigerClan's territory. It was a much wider hunting area than what you were used to in the streets. When your mother had told you and your siblings to catch a mouse together, all you had was a small sewer drain near the pound. Apart from that, you would have to scavenge through the massive, foul garbage cans the twolegs threw their food scraps in to. In a rare scenario, you would find a small sandwich chunk to share evenly among your kin. Most of the time you would have to gnaw out the few remaining mushy fruit that lay inside discarded banana peels.
"It's much wider than ThunderClan territory could ever be," Tawnypaw mewed gladly. "Although, you really didn't get to look around there, did you, (Y/L/N)?"
"No, not really," you replied, "but I hardly spent any time in ThunderClan."
"Alright, you two," Blackfoot interrupted, "it's time to head back to camp. Tigerstar might have a patrol for one or two of you."
"A patrol?" Tawnypaw exclaimed, her paws beginning to knead the ground. "But, wait, you're the deputy. Don't you organize all of the patrols?"
"Sometimes," Blackfoot chuckled. "Besides, all Tigerstar does all day is make announcements and plot his so called 'revenge' on ThunderClan. Now, go on, or you'll miss the sunhigh patrol."
"Yes, Blackfoot!" Tawnypaw bolted a few steps forward before skidding to a halt. She gazed back at you. "Are you coming, (Y/L/N)?"
"Oh, erm, no thanks, I'll find my own way back," you mewed.
"Aw, c'mon, (Y/L/N)! It'll be fun, and the patrol will love to have a new apprentice!"
"I think I'll pass, Tawnypaw."
Tawnypaw looked at you for a long moment, confused. Then she shrugged. "Suit yourself. I'll see you soon."
Tawnypaw then pelted away through the undergrowth towards TigerClan camp. You watched as she went and looked to Blackfoot, who was beginning to make his way back to camp with you.
"How long has TigerClan been a clan?" You asked.
"TigerClan?" Blackfoot looked at you. "Well, it's only RiverClan and ShadowClan. So far. Tigerstar's trying to convince WindClan and ThunderClan to join us, but Firestar's petty warriors and Tallstar's weak alliance are keeping to themselves. They'll give in one day. Tigerstar will make sure of it. Apart from that, TigerClan was only recently forged. Tigerstar believed that with all this danger lurking in the forest and the change of seasons upon us, it was time to come together as one clan, TigerClan. TigerClan was the name of a clan of our ancient ancestors, however, and I'm not sure Tigerstar should name us that possibly against StarClan's will. But no one can stop him. Not even Firestar's nine lives, Tallstar's knowledge and Leopardstar's stubbornness combined. He's the most powerful cat in the forest."
You stared at Blackfoot for a moment, and didn't reply. Soon the both of you returned at TigerClan camp, and Blackfoot slipped through the warriors' den before you could say farewell. You gazed around the empty camp, looking for anyone you knew. You wanted Firestar here, for some reason, and Cinderpelt, helping you to rest in the medicine den. Not only that, but you wanted your friend. Tawnypaw, to talk to. You now knew some of Tigerstar's hostile past, and you wanted to stay close to Tawnypaw and bombard her with questions. Were you safe here? Should the both of you have stayed in ThunderClan?
"Boo," a voice grunted behind you, making you jump and fall forward. You landed in the fresh-kill pile, unaware that you were standing in the middle of camp. The deep familiar voice chuckled behind you, and you rolled over to see a brown paw reaching forward to you.
"Nice going, Tigerstar," you sighed sarcastically. You put your paw on his to stand up, shaking the prey fur and flesh from your pelt.
"What can I say?" Tigerstar laughed. "I can't help seeing a stupid she-cat in the center of the clearing and not wanting to creep up behind them and tear their back fur off. You're lucky that didn't happen. Seriously, you looked air-headed. Are you alright?"
"I'm absolutely fine."
"How about we hunt together, just to get some fresh air and catch up."
"Catch up? We just did."
Before he could reply, Tigerstar was once again forcing you to flank him on your way out of camp. You made your way to what you could hear from badger-lengths away by its distinctive songs of water smoothly lapping at the sand - the river. As you and Tigerstar approached it, the both of you sat by the shore. Tigerstar stared at the slowly running current, his eyes narrowing. He rocked up his hind legs and began to sway his haunches. Finally, he pounced at the water. In a matter of seconds, he was below it, bubbles rushing to the surface and splashes jolting up every now and then. You began to panic.
"Tigerstar?" You exclaimed. "Are you alright in there? Tigerstar?"
No reply came, only relentless bubbles and splashing, until suddenly it stopped. Your heart froze in horror.
"Tigerstar!" You cried, about to leap into the water after him.
"Now you see me, now you don't,"  a voice whispered from behind you. You turned, but before you could make out the figure of the tabby cat, you felt a hard impact against your back and stumbled back into the water. It was deeper than you thought it would be, and you slashed your paws at the surface of it, fighting for breath.
"You swim like a kittypet!" A voice taunted as teeth were gently driven into your neck and lifted you up to the shore. You were dropped on the sand, breathing heavily and heart pounding out of your own body. Your vision was blurred, but slowly, as it returned, you saw Tigerstar standing above you.
"You'll need to do better than that if you were to survive a flood," Tigerstar snorted.
"A flood? I would survive, as long as I didn't have you around to force my head into the StarClan-forsaken water!" You protested.
"With decades of training. You're not even an apprentice by taking a good look at yourself. I'd say you're about seventeen moons old."
"Seventeen moons? You take that back, you kit!"
Your awful attempt at a retort was obviously unsuccessful, as Tigerstar laughed and lay down beside you. You were stilled rolled up in the uncomfortable position from when you were dropped. You looked up at the sky, and realized there was no longer a sun in the center. You tilted your gaze a little and saw it vanishing slowly beyond the horizon.
"Er, Tigerstar," you mewed, nudging the tabby lightly, "the sun's setting. We should start going back to camp. Uh, Tigerstar?"
You nudged Tigerstar a few more times, but realized he was already deep in slumber.
"Oh, great," you muttered to yourself, standing. "Tigerstar's asleep and probably expects that a helpless cat like me can find her way back to camp alone. Fine, then. I'll show Tigerstar just how brave I really am on my own."
You squeezed slowly out of the grasp of the tabby tom above you and began padding away, your chest puffed out boldly. You were determined to show Tigerstar that you could find your way back to TigerClan camp without him — even with your not-so-good awareness of your surroundings and scents.

The moon was now at it's highest point, and although you hadn't planned it, you were tripping over small rocks and twigs and dodging trees to get back to Tigerstar. Your senses had failed you, and as far as you went, you couldn't smell the slightest scent of the familiar TigerClan camp.
Eventually, the noises came back to you. The sound of rushing water and fewer fishes dancing around in the current. You had finally approached the river. Tigerstar was still lying down, but on a grass patch a fox-length away from the shore. You sighed, relieved, as you padded up to him and lay down beside the leader.
Tigerstar opened one eye slyly. "I knew you'd come running back like a headless squirrel."
Your eyes widened and you scowled, looking across at Tigerstar. "I'm not a headless anything. I just got tired and decided to come back."
"Don't worry, I understand," Tigerstar purred, "you got lost, because lazy Blackfoot just didn't show you around properly, didn't he?"
"Heh, no, no, it was probably just my senses. Wait, lazy Blackfoot?"
"He never gets his deputy duties right. He's too busy waiting for a mate."
Doesn't seem like the romantic type to me...
"Um, well, he actually you told me that you were fairly la-"
"He's probably just too jealous that I have you all to myself," Tigerstar smirked, intertwining his tail with yours and pressing his nose to your cheek. "We should get some shut-eye, dear. Goodnight, (Y/N/N)."
You froze. Did he just call you dear? Did he just give you a nickname? Did he just get this close? Your gaze hadn't shifted from Tigerstar one bit, even though he remained silent with eyes shut from then on. You assumed he had gone to sleep swiftly again and realized it was probably no use trying to get up again. Not to mention, he did look pretty handsome from this angle.
You gazed up at the row of stars scattered among the sky and smiled.
I wonder if the forest cats have a name for that, you thought. You stared at the glistening ivory beauties dappled into the darkness, before finally, your eyes gave in and allowed you to drift off into a deep sleep.
