Chapter 10

Pete was furious.

“What?” he asked Jake.

“Jess didn’t tell you?” he said, looking at me confused. I brought my hands to my face. Shit. I wasn’t planning on telling Pete.

“No, she didn’t tell me” Pete said, looking angry and sad at the same time.

“I-I um” I said nervously.

“Why didn’t you tell me? I’m going to kill that dick,” Pete said.

“This is why, Pete calm down,” I said passively, “I don’t want you to go to jail for hurting him.”  Tears started to form in my eyes, but I fought them back. I didn’t want to lose Pete. Pete saw the hurt in my eyes, and calmed down.

“Okay, don’t worry, I wont do anything” Pete said, leaving the room. At least he wasn’t going to hurt himself. I hated Andrew with all my might. I hadn’t gone to the police yet, but I was planning to.

“I’m sorry for not believing you Jake,” I said, remembering he told me that Andrew would hurt me. “

Its okay… do you want to go to the police?” he asked me. I nodded.

“But, I want you to tell me exactly what happened before, what make you notice he was a jerk”. Jake hesitated, but nodded yes.

“The same that happened to you, my sissy, she went out with him, and one day, she came home, they had been dating for a couple of weeks, and she had trusted him. Turns out he had assaulted her, but she had fought back. She hit him. But he hit her back, and broke her down. She was in a severe coma for 2 months. She didn’t want to say anything to the police. She still loved him, even after that” Jake finished. My jaw hit the floor. 2 months?!? What kind of psycho would do that? We decided to go to the police, that afternoon. Andrews’s trial was supposed to be held on Monday. It was already Saturday. I was nervous, I remembered what he had done to me, but he always seemed so innocent. I didn’t want to see his face; I knew he’d hate me. I headed for my room, and drifted off to sleep.

I grunted. The sun had found a way to evade my room between my curtains. I walked into my bathroom, and took a quick shower. I threw my hair in a messy ponytail, and went to my closet. What to wear? I put on my white bikini with nave striped. Then, I decided on a cute flowery short, and a crop shirt with the word peace in the front. I had my breakfast, and almost froze on the date. It was Sunday; tomorrow they’d hold Andrew’s trial. I didn’t want to see him. I went to jakes house, wanting to sped the day with him. We had become great friends, and I was happy with myself, I didn’t want anymore boy drama. I found him dead asleep in the couch. I went closer to him, and whispered in his ear,

“Jake, I love you”. With that, he shot straight up, and woke up immediately.

“Ha-ha so funny jess” he said. I laughed, and he soon joined me. We were going to go snorkeling with some of his friends. They were pretty nice. Max was jakes best friend, and so were Cole and Ethan, though Jake seemed to be closer to max. I had invited Ashley and Rachel to come over.

“Jake, come on! We need to pick up Ash and Rachel at Coles house. Ethan and max are already in the snorkeling place, they are getting ready!” I shouted to him. He took hours dressing up. Finally, he came downstairs, and I threw his keys at him. He marched up to his car. We went all the way to Cole’s house singing young, wild & free. I loved that song. We soon got to Coles house, and it was as big as Pete's. Everyone came on board, and we headed for the snorkeling place. As soon as we got of the car, I smiled. I was so excited. Id never done this before, and I loved the water. They gave us girls wet suit t-shirts, because they guys were starting to perv themselves out and drool at our bikinis.

“Hey there Jakie” I told Jake, while he was changing into his swimsuit. He jumped, and hit his head.

“Shit!” he said. I laughed at him. He launched for me, and put me over his shoulder.

“Put me down!” I screamed in-between laughs.

“I don’t think so missy,” he said, carrying me around. I screamed.

“I’ll only put you down if you say I’m your bestest friend in the whole universe” he said.

 “No way” I said. He started to spin me around.

 “Okay, okay. You are my bestest friend in the whole universe” I said, out of breath. He put me down, and everyone started to laugh. We soon got into the water. The scene was breathtaking. I had never seen something so beautiful as this. You could see all the little fishy's of different colors swimming around, and the sea plants made the whole scene better.  Suddenly, I felt something weird touching my feet. I screamed, and bubbles swam everywhere. Then I saw max and Jake down there. I chased them, but I couldn’t get that close. As soon as we went up, I hit max and Jake in the head.

“What were you thinking? You scared the crap out of me! I thought you were sharks!” I said. They both laughed. We got out of the water, and I pushed them in again. It was now my turn to laugh. They looked pissed, so I got away from the water, and started to run, they soon caught me, and they both carried me and dumped me in the water, but I pulled one of them in with me. It was max.

“Huh, and I thought you were the strongest” I shot at him. He looked at me and started to tickle me.

“Stop! I’m gonna drown!”  I screamed, laughing hysterically. He released me, and I kicked him.

“Ow” he said, and I laughed. Jake offered me his hand to get up, but I pulled him down instead.

“Oh, so you’re not that tough as I thought!” I said, swimming away from him. Max had gone up already, leaving me alone with Jake. We played in the water, and then headed for the car. Max and Jake stared at me, as I put on my clothes.

“Pervs” I told them, and then slaped them in the arm.

“Ow!” they both shouted.

“You two are like little girls today!” I shouted, and got into the car. I laughed. Jerks.
