Chapter 12
The days passed by fast, and I spent them with Ashley, Rachel, max and Cole, and sometimes Cole’s friend, Leon, would join us. Ethan wouldn’t come to us; instead, he’d stay with Jake. I didn’t see him the whole week. I really had a fun week, spending my days drinking and hanging out, mostly with max. Our personalities clashed, and we ended joking the whole day. Ashley and Cole finally got together. Max and I had been looking forward to this. Today we were going bowling. It was gonna be me, Ashley, Rachel, Cole, Max, and Leon. We were planning on meeting there at 8. The place closed at 1am, so we were expecting to have a blast. I put on a pair of washed aqua jeans and a cute crop that wasn’t too short, but you could still see my belly button. I grabbed my hair straightener and straightened it to perfection. I applied a little bit of make up, but not too much, I didn’t want to look like a whore. I gave max a call and grabbed Pete's car keys. I was planning on picking up Pete and then heading straight to the bowling alley. Ashley was going to pick up the rest of the guys. I started the care and drove to max’s house.
“MAXIE I’m here!” I called, dropping the keys in his kitchen counter and heading for his room. I barged inside without knocking. He was standing in the room, with only his boxers covering him. I ran outside of his room and closed the door, blushing. 10 seconds later, he opened the door, and he had his jeans on. He leaned into my like he was going to kiss me, but he whispered in my ear,
“Admiring my sexy body?” I laughed, and slapped him in the head. He joined me, and put on his t-shirt.
“C’mon babe” I said, slapping his butt. We got into the car, and started singing whatever song came on the radio. I laughed at max’s fake and horrible imitation of a British accent when a One direction song came on.
“THAT’S WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL!” he screamed in my ear with his fake British accent. I burst into giggles, something I usually didn’t do. He tickled me, but then stopped, realizing we were in the middle of the road.
As soon as we got there, I jumped out of the car, running and screaming like a psycho. Max was chasing me, and he wanted to tickle me. People looked at me as if I was completely nuts. Unfortunately, max got to me and started to tickle me madly. I screamed and laughed and he threw me up his shoulder and carried me all the way to the bowling alley.
“Let me down!” I screamed to him, kicking him. He just laughed and kept going. I screamed louder and then a security guard came and told us to keep it down, otherwise he’d have to get us to his office. Max and I walked away from him with a serious expression, but then burst into giggles. One ice cream and a mess later, we got to the bowling alley. Ashley, Rachel, Cole and Leon came running towards us, and we had a group hug. Everything was fine, until I saw Jake.
He was standing there with Ethan, and a bunch of other guys and girls that I didn’t know. We kept on laughing, and they threw us mean stares. We bought our tickets and slipped on our bowling shoes. I saw jack flirting with one of the waitresses in the bowling restaurant. I ignored them, and kept walking. But I couldn’t. I still felt something for him. I didn’t know what, but there was definitely something. I still had a spark of hope for him. We took our seats, and a waitress came. I was glad we could order food here, I was starving.
“Hello, my name is Melissa, what would you like today?” she asked us, flashing us a smile.
“Well, I would like a coke” max started.
“Me too” Ashley and Rachel said. Me, Cole and Leon looked at each other.
“Me three” we said, and laughed at our own stupidness. She brought us all our cokes, and some French fries. The game started and Cole went first. He did a strike. It didn’t surprise me. Ashley went next, only knocking down 6. Rachel went next, then Leon, and then max. He did a strike. But that wasn’t what surprised me. It was Jake. He was playing with his friends in the table besides us. I was so concentrated watching the game that I hadn’t noticed. He looked good. His hair was messy, and he was wearing jeans and a red t-shirt. He caught my eyes for a second, but I looked away and drank some of my coke. I was so mad with him. Before, I didn’t understand what had happened, but then, I didn’t really care. I hated him.
