Chapter 15
My day with Pete was great. We hadn’t spent some brother sister time in a long time. We had so much fun I ended up getting drowsy in the car drive and fell asleep. It’s sad, how ill bee leaving Miami so soon, and I really don’t want to. I’ve had a great time here and made new friends, which are fantastic. For example, Ashley. She has been the bestest friend I’ve ever had, more than Ellie. I haven’t been seeing her so much, but she has helped me through my problems and I have helped her. I helped her tell Cole how she felt for him, making them a couple. She went to his house, and they spent some time together. We rehearsed what she was going to say, but she didn’t need to say it. Cole made the first move, telling her how much he loved her, and how great she was. She told him she felt the same for him since she met him. They were adorable, one for the other. He laughed when he was with her, and so did she. They seemed so happy. As for me, I was clueless. I didn’t know how I felt about Jake, or max, or Leon. I was just so pissed at Leon. He had left me for another, after telling me how much he loved me. I saddened me how false he really was.
I had decided to spend my remaining days in Miami with Ashley, Max, Cole, Jake, Ethan and Rachel. Jake and max were friends again, putting everything that had happened behind them. The days passed by, and my return to New York approached. As so did the luau.
“Sit down, jess, I’m not going to finish if you keep on moving and squirming” Ashley told me, as she did my make-up. The luau started at 8pm, and lasted until 2am. I know, it sounded like a blast. I stopped moving, so Ashley could finish my make-up. It was already 7pm, and Jake and Cole were coming to pick us up at 7:30. Ashley had put on a beautiful light blue floral dress. The flowers were pink, red, green and yellow. It was short, it reached her mid-thighs. It was loose, and she looked flawless with it. She had put on some light make up, and red high heels. My dress was plain white, held by a sparkly golden strap. It also reached my mid-thighs. Ashley had straightened my long hair, and applied some make up on me. I had borrowed her gold pumps, which were extremely tall. Hell, I was glad the party was on the beach and I would be able to take them off. Ashley hadn’t let me look at me until the end, she said my make-up and hair and everything was a surprise.
“Okay! You’re ready!” Ashley said, helping me up and jumping up and down with excitement. I didn’t see what the big deal was. Until…. Oh. My. God. Was that me? The girl in the mirror certainly did not look like me. Her dress was perfect, it hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair was perfectly straightened and long, a golden flower pin retained a strand of her hair. Her face was flawless, the make-up fit her well. It was me.
“Do you like it?” Ashley asked me, getting me out of my trance.
“Like it? Love it!” I said with excitement “thanks!” .
It was time, so we headed to the living room. Apparently, Jake and Cole were already here. As we stumbled down the stairs – our heels doing clicking sounds - Jake and Cole turned around and took a look at us. They were gawking. Cole was the first to speak up.
“Y-you look beautiful” he said. Ashley and I reached the final steps, and Cole pulled her into a hug. They were adorable.
“Hey! There’s kids here,” I said, pointing at Jake. He laughed. They bosh blushed.
“Oh, the lovebirds” I said romantically.
“You look stunning” Jake told me. I smiled at him, and took a peek.
“You don’t look half-bad yourself,” I said, and he reached for my hand. Our touch sent sparks. We walked to the car, and drove quietly to the luau.
“Hello gorgeous” someone whispered in my ear.
“Max!” I screamed, and hugged him. He twirled me in the air.
