~Heather's POV~
"Hey Time?" I questioned before he left to go to the library, making him turn around in the doorway, "can I come with you to the library? Wild said I could go if you let me."
"I don't know why you would want to go," he replied, slightly tilting his head, "you can't read Hylian, can you?"
"No, but I'm willing to learn. I already know two languages, what's the harm of learning a third?" I questioned back. He gave me an odd look, "English, obviously as were speaking it, and French."
"Just because you say that, doesn't mean it's true," he commented. Wow, he really doesn't trust me or Skylor.
"Bonjour, comme ça va, Time? Je suis bien. Est-ce je peux aller avec toi?" I questioned.
"Wait, what did you just say?" He questioned, giving me a confused look. I laughed and smiled at him.
"I just said, 'Hello, how are you? I'm fine. Can I go with you?' So, I mean, can I?" He gave a quick huff before nodding his head.
"Just stay close, okay? A lot of bokoblins and moblins are on the way towards the library," he stated, I just nodded. The library wasn't all that far away, but there were still a good amount of enemies on the way there. Doing as Time said, I stayed close to him while he fought them off. Though, while he was busy with two moblins, some bokoblins came up from behind us.
"Uh... Time?" I questioned, though he was too focused on the moblins to notice. I looked back over my shoulder and saw the bokoblins were about ten feet away, so I made the decision to pull the shield off of his back and whack the closet one in the face and use the shield to stop the sword of the other. When the bokoblins were stunned, I whacked the one in the face that had just tried to swing at me before taking its sword and slashing both of them. It took three hits before they turned into horns and parts.
"Nice job, but don't touch my shield again," Time spoke up, holding his hand out for his shield.
"Sorry," I replied, handing it to him, "but it was the only thing I could use against them. That or my fists and I don't think my fists would've done much against them." He nodded as we continued on our way.
Once getting to the library, I took in my surroundings. The town was fairly large and many people were going to and from. Walking inside, I set my sword down in the weapon rack they had in the entrance way, Time doing the same with his. I know the town is more we'll protected, so they probably have this hear for travelers and such. Or maybe just the Link's, who knows.
Looking around, I had no idea what some of the books even said, what genre they were, or anything. Time was already in the area he needed to be, picking up books and looking at them before setting them back or putting them under his arm. I looked around for a little bit until I noticed him walking over to me, so I just grabbed the first book that I saw. It was a thick book that weighed a few pounds. He gave me a questioning glance, as he had about three books in his arms and they seemed to only be about a fifth the size of my book.
"Do you really want to start reading with that book...?" He questioned, eyeing me.
"Why not? It has the most words in it so I mean, I'll get the most out of reading it..." I replied.
"I guess... if you like history," he replied. AHA SO THIS IS THE HISTORY SECTION! I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON AS TO WHY ALL THE BOOKS LOOKED SO OLD! We checked the books out, Time getting stopped by the librarian who asked him something in Hylian. He blushed before vigorously shaking his head, replying. After a moment we grabbed our gear and left.
"What was that about?" I questioned, walking up beside Time and looking at his face. He had a light tint to his cheeks before turning his face away.
"She just wanted to know who you were, that's all.." I don't believe him.
"She asked if I was your girlfriend, didn't she?" I questioned, nudging his arm and wiggling my eyebrows. He tried to glare at me but his blush just grew, and I chuckled. "Hey, I'm not that bad, Time. I haven't even really bothered you much other than just asking to come to the library. Besides, I really do just like learning about you guys and the history of Hyrule. At home, I have an encyclopedia that shows the timeline and explains all the games. It also tells some history, but I think I can get more out of this book than mine," I replied, holding up the large book.
"You're really trying to be our friend, aren't you?" He sighed, looking over at me. I smiled and nodded at him. The walk back to the house was silent, though it was a peaceful silence and we didn't run into anymore monsters. Walking inside, thanking Time, I made my way towards Wild's room before setting the book down on the desk in the middle of the room, making him jump and look up from his Sheikah slate. He looked at the book before looking up at me and giving me a questioning glance.
"Teach me how to read Hylian?" I asked, giving him pleading eyes.
"Did you have to get the biggest book at the library?" He questioned turning the book around and looking at the title. "And really about the history of Hyrule? This has all the histories, including the timeline breaks..."
"Of course!" I replied, "it might be a lot but I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to learn," I crossed my arms and looked at him, smiling. "That and it was the just kinda me grabbing the first book I saw when Time was about to tell me we needed to leave. I just kinda wandered the library..." at this, he laughed before grabbing a notebook and pen out of his nightstand. He started scrubbing symbols onto the paper, putting a symbol to each letter.
After a little while of getting me to learn the basics of Hylian, mostly just how words sound and some of the most common words, he made me read the first few pages of the history book, helping me along when I needed it.
"HEEEAAATTHHHERRRR" called a voice, only for Skylor to pop her head into the room, "make me some Mac n che- am I interrupting something?" she asked, fully coming into the room and walking over to the table Wild and I were sitting at.
"He's teaching me how to read Hylian. Still don't know much, but I mean, I'm learning enough," I shrugged, "Wild said I'm on like.. the equivalent to a first grade reading level. And my pronunciation needs to be better, but other than that I'm fine."
"You can't do the hard R for french, Heather. And you slur your words with your lisp," I narrowed my eyes at her for a moment. "Oh no."
"Skylor. Do you wanna go south to the South Side Serpents?" I questioned, making her facepalm and try not to laugh. "And just because I can't do the hard R that they do, doesn't mean I'm not fluent in the language. Madame did let me skip a level in high school and Monsieur told me I was pretty great at it in college."
"That's true... so... make me some Mac n cheese?" She questioned, happily. "I mean, if there is an equivalent to Mac n cheese here? Do you have cheese and noodles?"
"I mean... we should?" Link stated, but more like a question. We made our way towards the kitchen before the Four Swords tackled me to the ground along with Wind.
"Why." I stated, having a unamused expression.
"Play with us! Skylor said you were good at Halo!" Wind spoke up, hopping off of my back, followed by the others.
"Alright, just let me make something to eat for Skylor, then I'll play with you," as I said that, the five cheered and ran off to the living room.
