Layers of Insecurities

Chapter 6

One week later, I have returned to school from the whole incidents, luckily no one knew about it I didn't want to draw unnecessary attention, my parents have requested for the school to not serve whole fish so that I wouldn't have to get scared. Lina, Olivia and Victoria was waiting for me at the school gates and we walked in together, during the week of my recovery we have gotten close they would come and visit me and talked about girly things that catches my attentions, and soon enough I started to trust them a bit. 

There he was leaning against my locker, Lina have told me what happen when I pass out so I guess I owed him a thank you. when he spotted me he pushed himself up and walked over to us I quickly looked down not wanting to make an eye contact with him, so I started to walk away he quickly grabbed my arm and said "don't I have a word to hear" he whisper close to my ear, Flushing red I say " thank you" and walked away towards my locker. everyone in the hall stopped what they are doing and looked at us feeling uncomfortable I decided to pull my hoodie even more, Dante looked at the surrounding and said "mind your business !" everyone scattered and ran. My friends soon follow me giving me a smirk while Dante and his friends just follows us to my locker I shoved everything in the locker and quickly walk to math class "looks like someone got an interest with you" Olivia whisper as she looked back and nudge me on my side.

Math class came I sat with the girls, while the boys switched seats and sat next to the table beside us, Dante seats was beside me, only the space for the teacher to walk that separates us he keeps looking at me making me shift, I hate getting stared at. Lesson starts and a sigh came out of my mouth today we are learning about quadratics yay! my favorite, note the sarcasm I absolutely hate quadratics, they are so confusing I can barely understand any, I keep silently sighing as the teacher explains. But I guess my so silent sigh got heard by Dante as soon we left the class he offered to teach and help us with maths lessons since all of my friends sucks at it too, well then I guess we could study. 

During lunch Dante said that we don't have to go to the cafeteria he have a place where it is quiet and peaceful so we can study and eat at the same time, Lina, Olivia and Victoria were off to the cafeteria to get food along with Rick, Grey, and Louise, they said that they will get Dante food so which leaves us alone to go to the table, I didn't want to be left alone I was reluctant to let Lina leave but she said that I can trust Dante, which was weird just a week ago she told me to be careful of him. 

Pushing that thought aside Dante offered to carry my bag, while I decline we made our way to the outside of our school and there was a table that was under a tree, and no one was seen only us, I sat down and took out my favorite book and started reading , Dante was sitting beside me which was really not I was thinking out of the whole seat he decided to sit next to me. He was fiddling with his backpack and took out something " Tulip?" he called out softly, "hmm?" I replied not taking my eyes of the book, then something came into my view " here " he handed a snack, which was my favorite chocolate chip cookies and sprinkle, I looked at him and gave him a look and turn away. "eat " he said, "you have to eat something" as he snatched my book away from my hand as he replace them with the cookies, I glared at the cookies and said " I am not hungry " he then gave a mischievous smile and said " if you don't eat then I won't give you your book" I looked at him and ours eyes locked, just then a butterfly came out of no where and landed on his head, which made me giggle and which made him chuckled. " eat I will eat it too if you want?" I nodded, he took the cookie and wrap it with tissue and handed to me I gave him a small smile, its been so long since I have eaten this cookie and somehow it tasted familar, he then also took a cookie and ate it.

As I nibbled on the cookies, our friends came laughing especially Grey and Lina who was really close, and that made me suspicious. I eyed them suspiciously as they came and Dante was doing the same, they both clear their throat and placed our lunch in front of us. Lina then eyed my cookie and Dante's and smirked, my lunch was orange juice and cookies I loved coffee but school doesn't provide any coffee, so juice will do. Dante stared at me while I tear open my straw and cookies he eyed me for a second then tilt his head and looked away. 

As I was busy eating my cookies a spoon came out of no where, I followed the spoon and realized that the owner was Dante he was trying to feed me, my eyes widen in shock while everyone on the table froze, I chocked on my cookies and began coughing he quickly handed me the juice, after I drank it he held the spoon up again. "what are you doing ?" I ask a bit irritated " feeding you " he answer like its the most obvious answer ever " No" I turn away and cover my mouth, " aww she looked so cute " everyone awed , my face flushed and I cover my face with my hand and rest my head on the table. I lifted my head to Lina who was sitting in front of me to help, she raise an eyebrow and shrugged her shoulders, I slowly turn my head to Dante who was smirking at me " I still have your book"he teased, I let out a groan and banged my head on the table but Dante put a hand under so I wouldn't hurt myself,    " one bite " he looked at me with desperate eyes, Lina looks hesitant but nodded she wanted me to overcome my habits " alright" I replied,  I took a bite. Memories starts to flood in "PIG, UGLY, FAT, MONSTER" those chants started to take over me, I started to get lost in my mind, but just then a warm hand was placed on mine and held it tightly, while everyone looked at me with sorry eyes, slowly I took my hand away and start to chew and took back my book and start reading, tears spilling from my eyes I wasn't into the book anymore. 

Everyone finished their lunch and started to get ready for the study session, while I lost my appetite and left my cookies on the table, I also didn't want to read the book anymore. while I put in my headphones and played a song, I started to hum quietly to the melody. while preparing my notes ready for the extra lessons, music helps me to cope with my depression it is the only escape I can take.
