High school AU because I'm trash for those.
They're all in their senior year and we are gonna start off at the beginning of the school year.Third Person POV
Sean groaned and rolled over to grab his phone and turn off his alarm. It was his last first day of high school. He was excited to be a senior because his classes are much easier and there's more time to socialize than anything. It was just the fact that he had to wake up so early that was annoying to him.
He stood up and wiped the sleep out of his eyes.
He set his outfit for today out last night so he grabbed it and headed into his bathroom. After his shower, which he prolonged so he didn't have to get out into the cold so soon, he dried off and slid on his outfit. It was black jeans and a band t-shirt he bought the day before. He walked downstairs and grabbed an apple from his kitchen counter and quickly ate it. As he went to head out the door he slid on his backpack and tried to leave as quietly as possible to not wake his mom.
He didn't see her often because she worked long hours at the local hospital, but he still didn't want to disturb her sleep to say bye.
Sean walked out to the park on his path and waited for his friends to meet him there. They walked together every day because they all lived so close.
Marzia was the first to show up, immediately sitting on the swings which Sean joined her on. They tried to see who could get higher but Marzia won like always.
"I hate you." Sean laughed.
"No, you don't!" She giggled.
Felix and Ken walked up next. Sean ran up and gave them a huge hug.
"I've missed you guys!"
"Dude, we just saw you last night."
"SO? Does that mean I can't miss my best friends."
"Sean is absolutely right, how could you be so mean to this sweet, poor baby." Ken threw his arms around Sean and squished his face.
Felix rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless.
Mark walked up finally looking grumpy.
"Oh, hi, Mark!" Mark only groaned in response.
Sean already knew Mark was upset that he had to be up this early.
The group always woke up extra early and met up so they could grab coffee at the same place.Once they had walked there and Mark finished his coffee he becomes the loudest one of them all.
"Sean!!!!"
"Yes, Mark?"
Mark flung himself into Sean's arms. "Hi."
Sean loved when his best friend acted this way. He knew he was being himself.
"Hello." He smiled. After a short walk and a lot of talking they got to the front yard of the school.
"Alright, so this starts the beginning of the end," Ken says.
"We have had a long 3 years and this will be our final year, let's make it the best one yet," He finishes.
The group all puts in words of encouragement and heads into the school. They make a path to the gym to grab their schedules. After they do, they begin comparing.
"So we all for sure have lunch together, but most of our classes we don't have all of us in."
"Bummer," Marzia whined.
"The last period we are all in!" Sean chipped in.
The bell rang symbolizing it's time to rush to first period.
The group split, some walking with another due to them sharing a first period.
Sean had first with Felix, he was happy about that because they don't get to talk as much."So you ready to have fucking Economy first period EVERY DAY!!" Felix sarcastically says.
"Oh yeah, totally ready to hate my life first thing in the morning."
Felix snorts at Sean's response. After dreading life, they finally walk up to the classroom door and take two seats in the back as far as they could get. Sean pulls out two pieces of paper. One for pretending he's paying attention and the other for writing notes to Felix.
When the teacher began going on and on about this school year Felix and Sean were playing tic-tac-toe. If you hadn't guessed, Sean was winning.
Every time he won a game Felix would stomp and then realize he was gonna get them in trouble and pretend he was writing something down. It was an extremely entertaining cycle. The bell rang for their second period and Felix and Sean separated and Sean was off to his next class.
If he remembered correctly he was pretty sure he had this class with Mark.
He walked in and greeted the teacher and walked to the back as always. He saved the seat next to him with his backpack just in case he was right. After a couple minutes, he looked to the door and was greeted by the sight of his best friend. Sean waved him over and picked up his backpack and plopped it to the side opposite of him. They sat close together and paid attention to the teacher for once. It wasn't an awful class, so they decided it's best to waste time by actually listening.
Mark was drawing doodles around the edges of his paper when he realized something. Sean's leg was pressed up tightly against his, which wasn't abnormal, but what was abnormal was the feeling it was giving him in his stomach.
"No, no," he thought. He knew this feeling. Why was it happening now after all these years of friendship?
He knew Sean was special to him but he never thought he'd find himself falling for him.He felt himself growing anxious and boring his eyes into his paper.
When the bell finally rang he breathed out a sigh of relief. He said bye to Sean and ran off to his third period.
He had Felix in this class and knew he had to let it out to someone, and if anyone it had to be him or Marzia.
He rushes in and sees Felix in the back and quickly seats himself next to him.
"Felix." he breathes out.
"What's wrong?" He grabs my hand out of habit and stares at me intently.
"I'm pretty sure I like my best friend."
"Sean." Mark sighs.
"Oh, Mark, it's okay." He understands the feeling.
"How's it going with Marzia?"
"I haven't grown balls yet to ask her on a date, but she's still as amazing as ever."
Mark smiles at that, he really hopes they end up together. They'd be adorable.
"I think you should test the waters with Sean, see where it takes you. You both care for each other so much as it is, who knows? Maybe you two are meant to be."
"Okay, I'll try that thank you, Fe"
"It's not a problem at all."When their last class of the day finally came they all sat in the back row.
The class was pretty much a free period considering it was treated as a study hall. The teacher was really chill and never really bothered anyone unless they got way too loud.
They pushed their desks together to where everyone could see each other and updated each other on their day. Everyone listened eagerly because that's the love they had for each other.Mark tried his best to keep his limbs off Sean in fear of that fuzzy feeling, again. It wasn't that he was disgusted by it, it was just a scary new feeling.
He instead leaned more to Ken, which confused Sean. He was used to his big doof of a best friend always being practically on top of him making stupid jokes. The dismissal bell went off and the group practically sprinted out to the school front yard.
"Finally that shit is over, good God," Sean said.
"Now, who's in the mood for food?"
Everyone agreed to the plan and soon they were at a Taco Bell and all ordered they favorites. The group sat down and immediately dug into their food. Felix kept purposely burping and when Marzia told him to stop jokingly he dramatically said "SHUTTHEFUUFUK" and Sean went into a laughing fit to the point of crying.
Felix was giggling at the man who was in tears and Mark couldn't help but look at Sean like he was the cutest thing he had ever laid eyes on.
Felix caught this and he looked around to see if anyone else had, which no one seemed to.After they finished their food they all headed home and when Mark and Sean said bye, Mark lingered after and watched as Sean left. He then walked home and laid in bed confused as to why these feelings had even come to light now of all times.
