The next morning Mark jumped out of bed, his alarm sounded much louder than usual.
He begrudgingly got out of bed and looked around his room. He really should clean, the floor was covered in clothes. To him, though, it actually looked fine but his mom didn't think so. She didn't really nag him about it because she knew he was a teenager still and his mind was clustered. He still had an hour until he had to head to their meeting spot so he put everything where it was supposed to go and even organized. When he was finished he stood back and sighed.
It looked much better, the floor was visible and Mark felt like he could breathe.
He got ready in a cute sweater with some black jeans and headed downstairs.
"Mom, I'm leaving for school!"
"Let me come to give you a hug."
Mark waited and she walked in with her pajamas still on and hugged her son tightly. He kissed her forehead and he was off to see his friends.

The days felt like they were only getting colder, at this point he could see his breath which he thought was hilarious.
He saw Felix first and when he walked over and saw the man exhale he decided he was a comedian, "Hey do you even vape bro?"
"What?"
"Your breath is smoking so I thought it'd be funny." Mark pouts.
"Don't make that faaaace, ugh." He engulfs Mark in a hug, "It was funny."
Mark smiles and hugs him back tightly.
The rest showed up and Ken was starting to get a little beard growing.
"OOOH Ken is becoming a real man!" Mark squealed.
"You know it, babe. I'm out here lifting weights with my eyeballs."
Mark made a loud sound of disgust, "That would actually be terrible."
"You know, you're right. Ew." Ken replies now contemplating his life.

In their last period of the day, Sean and Sarah managed to squeeze themselves closer to the groups' table. Mark tried his hardest to ignore them, he truly did.
Mark kept catching Sarah staring directly at him till eventually, Mark was feeling sick.
He turned to whisper at Felix, "Sarah won't stop staring at me and I'm getting so anxious I feel like I could throw up."
Felix glared Sarah's way and held Mark close to him.
"Try your hardest to focus on us, the class is almost over."
Mark nods even though he knows it isn't going to be that easy.

The bell finally rings, the group gets up and leaves and they head to the mall.
Mark was having fun until his phone vibrated.
He unlocked it after laughing at Ken and Marzia putting on creepy masks and trying to scare Felix (which worked) but immediately frowned at the message.
Sarah had somehow gotten his number and texted him something he wishes he just hadn't seen.
It was a picture of him, no a compilation even, of Mark by the cliff. Why does she have those?
He didn't respond to her, but that means someone knew or she did. She was there, or someone was. No one stopped him. Where were they and why had he not seen them?

Sarah texted him again this time telling him he knew he loved Sean, but it was with a screenshot of him texting Felix one bad night.
How the fuck did she get that?

Felix nudged him so Mark dropped his hand with his phone in it to his side. "Are you okay?"
"Did you share with anyone a screenshot of me talking about how I love Sean?"
Felix's face turns to one of concern, "Of course not, why do you ask?"
Mark shakily hands Felix the phone. He reads the messages and his face then turns to one of disgust and anger.
"How the fuck did she get all of these?"
"I-I don't know, but if she shows Sean I don't think I can face him, again."
Sarah texts again as Felix still has the phone so Felix sees it first, "She's blackmailing you."
"What?" Mark grabs the phone and sees that Sarah told him she would show Sean that specific screenshot if he didn't send Sean an in-depth message right now about how much he hates him.
Mark felt tears prick his eyes, "I c-can't do that to him, Felix. I don't hate him."
"But do you want him to know you love him?"
Mark sighs audibly and shakes his head no.
When Ken and Marzia walk over they head to the food court and take a seat. Ken grabbed them a pizza and some sodas to share ahead of time.
"Felix, could you tell them?"
Felix looks at him sympathetically and turns to the others with Mark's phone and lets them read it.
"This is Sarah's new game, Mark is having a hard time choosing whether or not he wants to text Sean that terrible message or if he wants him to just find out he loves him."
Marzia speaks first, "That bitch."
Mark is shocked because she doesn't normally talk that way.
Ken nods in agreement, "Do you want one of us to type it?"
Mark's mouth drops, "I would never make one of you do that."
Felix chimes in, "I'll happily do it."
Mark closes his mouth, "Are you sure?"
"Very. I'd be protecting your heart and finally getting to say what I feel, but I understand this means a lot to you so I'll keep it down. I'm sorry this is even an option you have to weigh right now."
Mark takes the phone from Ken and hands it to Felix.
"Are you sure?"
"I- um- yeah I'm sure."
Felix stares at him for a moment then turns to the phone and begins messaging Sean. It isn't too long, but it's sure to satisfy Sarah hopefully.
After Felix finishes typing and presses send he takes a screenshot and send it to Sarah.
It isn't long till they get a reply.

Sarah: Pleasure doing business with you
Mark: fuck off.
Sarah: Bye now (;

Mark slides his phone in his pocket quickly.
"I blocked Sean, I didn't want you to have to see his reply."
"Thank you."
They eat with the others trying their hardest to cheer their friend up, Mark fakes a smile or a laugh here and there but it was hard to force a real reaction out of him.

Mark ends up walking home alone. The walk from the mall forces him to pass Sean's house which used to be amazing, but now it feels like he's walking into a death trap.
He felt himself speeding up as he walked by but he heard a familiar voice, "Mark."
He froze in place. Why God?
He didn't turn around but he heard steps coming to him from the side after the front door was shut.
He turns when Sean gets close to him and faces him.
"Why?" He whispers, but Mark doesn't have an answer to that.
Sean scoffs and slaps Mark hard.
Mark automatically wants to cry, so he shoves Sean as hard as he can and runs away tears pouring from his eyes.
He thinks about going to Felix's house but his legs have other plans. Mark runs all the way home and into his room. His face still stings from the smack and his heart is completely broken. His life continues going down and there's nothing he can even do. He's too cowardly to tell Sean how he really feels because he knows rejection would feel so much worse.
Mark flings himself on his bed and lets all his tears fall into his pillow.
He feels like he's about to have a panic attack so he rips his phone out of his pocket and frantically selects Felix's number.
After a couple rings, Felix doesn't answer.
"Fuck."
He tries to call Ken, but no answer same with Marzia.
"Why now?"
He knew his friends had lives too but he really needed someone right now.
He got out of his room and walked back outside, he felt like he was going to suffocate if he was inside a closed space any longer. Felix's house was pretty close, so he headed there. It didn't take him long but at this point, he was freezing. His sweater wasn't thick enough for the increasing cold considering it was only getting darker.
He knocked on his best friend's door and waited patiently for an answer.
Felix opened the door and saw Mark looking distraught with a small bruise on his face almost in the shape of a finger.
He stepped aside so Mark could come in.
Mark leads Felix to Felix's room and sits down on his bed. Felix takes a seat beside him and waits until Mark is ready to speak.
"So I walked passed Sean's house.." Mark starts causing Felix to grip his sheet, "He walked out and asked me why. I couldn't respond and um, he smacked me really hard."
"WHAT?" Felix yells abruptly.
Mark jumps a little, "It's fine, I deserve it for what I allowed because I'm a coward."
"No, you didn't deserve that, you're going through shit and he's being a dick. I'm going to kill him."
"You don't have to do that, it's fine. At least we know he won't bother me anymore."
Felix chuckles but doesn't really explain why.
"Do you want to sleep over?"
"That would be nice."
They lay in Felix's bed and talk about nothing while laying halfway on each other until they fall asleep.
