Australia's Dawn of the Fotia Whirls - (By David Hurt)

A sudden burst of a dry storm

Sparks its tremor beats

And the dance of sky lights follow.

A dance,

Which ignites a parched

Emerald opal oasis,

Of the ruby rugged land,

Into an unstoppable force

Of flames.

The east wind blows;

The flames surge forward,

Engulfing the surrounding green.

At its fullest rage,

The fire creates vortices;

Columns reaching skyward,

Fountain flames,

That twist

And surge in all directions

Rampantly seeking

Human prey.
